I wonder how many people have traded in their existing car when buying their ID? I guess most would have tried to sell privately or gone with Motorway(?) or, heaven help you, Webuyanycar. I traded in as they actually offered me the same as Motorway and I couldn't be bothered to sell privately and spend most of my time with "timewasters"
My question is that this VW dealer wanted to charge a fee:
"Your Part Exchange Vehicle is Subject to a Provenance Check fee of £40 + VAT"
Has anyone come across this before?
VW dealer rip-off?

Never. That's a complete p-take.
They're usually grateful for having some used stock to sell. Last few cars I've got rid of to a specialist car buyer, as dealerships generally offer less- they want a higher margin on used cars.

Was offered £12.4K p/x for our Toyota Yaris. Sold it via Motorway for £14.7K. No further comment needed.....Collecting our iD3 this morning, have already told salesperson that there'd be no p/x (on which they anticipated making an unhealthy profit) and you could almost hear their little heart sink....

Inchape Swindon offered 8k for my 2016 Leon FR, Motorway offered 8.2k but I couldn't be arsed with the faff so just let VW take it for 8k and they didn't take any admin costs etc.
VW sold it 2 weeks later for 10.5k
