Port to dealer times

Our car is finally built!

It’s currently at the port waiting to come over - how long did people have to wait from this point to get their cars?

I’m really hoping not to have to fill up the old car again in the current madness.

Mine was put on the boat on 12th September and I picked it up yesterday, 24th September.

Mine has been waiting since 15th September at Emden for a boat to Sheerness. One left on Wednesday but my ID3 wasn’t on this one, so fingers crossed it will be on the next.

I believe they have a 2 week SLA for getting vehicles out from Emden after they have arrived at the port.

My ID.3 is also sat in Emden (awaiting a ferry to Grimsby).
On Friday 17th Sept the dealer sent me a screenshot of the order status which showed: Status Code = 30 (In transit from factory), Location = 40101 (Emden)
Last Friday (24/09) the latest screenshot shows: Status Code = 38 (In port of exit, Released), Location = 40101 (Emden)

For the past couple of weeks I've only been refuelling the old car to 1/4 full in the hope of getting a call to take delivery. Now hoping that this wasn't an unwise strategy ;-)

Ordered my ID3 in mid July and the car was already built (202120 May) it is now coming to the end of September and it's still not delivered. Dealer told me twice that the car had left Emdem and was due in the UK but after the second failed arrival of the car they tried to get information from VW with little success. I called VW UK with the vin number and they looked in to it and said the car was back at the factory?? Apparently a number of cars came back without being offloaded at the UK port as some unfinished work had to be done at the factory. If this is true then their QA is pretty poor.

I was hoping to get the car for a trip to Scotland at the beginning of September - not unrealistic given it was built in May!!!! The question now is will it arrive before Christmas. I was really looking forward to getting it and the wall charger has been installed some 5 weeks now.

It's an old thread so probably not that useful to know. Looks like at the moment the Life and Family specs are coming quicker than the Max and Tour. This is likely a combination of needing less components and trying to supply them before the grant expires which isn't a factor for the higher trims. With some unfortunate folk being outliers for no obvious reason.

Max and Tour trims have been taking much longer than Life and Family trims for all orders from about July 202 onwards. The last Max and Tour trims to be delivered in reasonable timescales (~6 months) were ordered in June or the beginning of July, those ordered later in the month waited an extra 6 months or so for delivery (those being the MY22 ones delivered not long ago).

Once your car is actually built (status 30) it seems to take anything from two to eight weeks until you can pick it up. Most people probably three to six weeks.
