Hi guy's,

Has anyone got a 145 PS ID.3 and want want to share any comments ?

My dealer is telling me that only way to get a ID.3 using the government £2.5k grant is to go for either the Life with 207 PS or the Family with 145 PS.

The car I test drove was a Business 207 PS, and I loved that, but just a tad concerned the 145 PS won't be as good.

Would appreciate any comments.

If the original list price (doesn't include extras like alloy wheels) is above £35K then there is no eligibility for the EV grant of £2.5K

Here you go,

VW list prices showing EV grant eligibility, ID Family Pro performance is eligible.

Yes the wife has just ordered a family performance pro in blue met, derry wheels and mats and we were told it qualifies for the grant, as does the configurator on the vw site

Why cannot you get the 150kW Family Pro Performance?

The 107kW Family Pro is quicker from 0-60 than most ICE cars anyway.

Change dealer as he does not know what he is talking about!

Your dealer is plain wrong. All currently orderable ID.3’s except the Max and Tour are currently eligible for the £2500 grant.

I say currently because who knows what Rishi is going to do with EV grants later this month…

We have two Family Pro Performance 204 PS and both qualified for the grant.

Perhaps your dealer has a Life 204 and a Family 145 to sell?

That's a very valid statement. In my limited experience of VW dealers, none of them know much about anything. They could quite easily be selling ice creams and not hi-tech cars.

My Dealer was totally confused between engine power and battery size. Thank goodness I'd done my homework!

And I got the Grant

Fun fact, according to the many minutes of youtube watched, the 145ps has the same electric motor and torque as the 204ps version. It's just limited by software apparently.

Not so fun fact, the YouTubers might not be right.

And even that might not be right as if you check the online manual and scroll to the very end.. The different motors are listed and they have different Max Torque figures.. The EBJC is rated at 275Nm not 310Nm. I suppose that could all still be smoke and mirrors and the motors are the same but from a personal POV I will be a little upset if it becomes an option to 'Upgrade' to the higher power through a cheaper back door route and I could see VW on the end of yet another legal challenge.

If this is just a software difference, it's pretty difficult to justify £1200 difference. VW don't undersell and oversupply. Finding it really hard to believe that VW would stick a more capable motor in than it needs to if there's a cheaper one that would do the job.

Either way, VW almost certainly wouldn't sell you a 145/150ps Pro and then allow you to upgrade to Pro Performance for £600, they would kill Pro Performance sales.

If you want a Pro Performance then you'll need to buy a Pro Performance. It would be a faff with insurance too as you'd effectively be getting an official remap.

Seems you can say anything on YouTube and be believed.

Though… Tesla already do this - and it’s a way for VW to get ££ direct to them. No slice to the dealers or possibly even tax (if done right!).

Tesla are still small enough (volumes) to source a "one size fits all" motor. VAG aren't in the habit of this approach for any of their cars. Seriously doubt the motors are identical across the range.

Agree zero chance VW will offer over the air updates. Not the way the company work, they are in recovery from the diesel issues.

We opted for the 145 admittedly out of my ignorance in not realising the gov grant would have also been available on the 200 even after options. Dealer did try to upsell to us but I skipped him on not realising what he was saying.

Who knows when we will get it though, ordered at the end of June.
