Hi All,

New in here, apparently have a Max pro set for delivery in Dec, I will believe it when I se it!

Anyway, I got a good lease deal (at least I think I did) but it comes with the stock 18” wheels.

So thinking of getting some aftermarket wheels and also fitting them with all season tyres.

Anyway my question is, has anyone fitted all season tyres to their ID3: the stock tyres are lower friction rolling so wondering how much changing tyres affect’s mileage or if tyre noise increases much?

Love to hear your real world experience…

Thank you…

Hi
I have had a set of Michelin Cross Climate + tyres on my present car for around 2 years now on a VW Golf SV and have been very happy with them. I will be looking to fit a set of the newer Michelin Cross Climate 2s once the OEM tyres need changing. They were quieter than the tyres they replaced and the grip they have on the road was beyond expectation, both in the dry and wet / hot and cold weather.
As an example of their grip, our old summer tyres, the cars traction control would cut in when pulling away from a standing start. Once the Cross Climate tyres were on pulling away from a standing start would not trigger the traction control.

Can’t comment on fitment to the ID but I had Michelin cross climate on my Golf GTE and they transformed the handling.

The original Bridgestones were useless in the wet and anything slippery, the gross climates were quieter and gave exceptional grip even in light snow (didn’t have anything deep to really try them)

Will be watching forum to see if anyone has fitted to an ID as like you would likely replace our Conti’s when they go (20,000 60 % worn at present )

Enjoy when you receive!

I have a spare set of wheels bought online for my current SUV with winter tyres as pre covid we we often in Germany over Christmas. They are fantastic in cold wet weather as well. Given our e208 seems to spin its drive wheels in any wet weather quite easily and surprised me with its stopping distance on a wet road, very interested to hear what others have done with their ID3s. All weather tyres are probably a good compromise for southern UK where we don't often get snow but we do get a lot of cold and wet weather.

Tires have a massive effect on fuel economy. You might want to research EV developed bad weather tires, but only if you think you really need them

Michelin, for example, recommend their Pilot Alpin 5 for EVs:

Pirelli recommend their Cinturato Winter 2:

If you have 18” wheels the CC 2’s are not available in that size (just regular CC). They are for the 19”.

I am wondering if anyone has tested efficiency differences for EVs on summer, all season and winter tyres? Be good to see it quantified. If its a slight reduction in efficiency but a bigger increase in safety I would trade one off for the other. Clearly summer tyres in the cold and wet are not optimal and "we get by" through the winter until we need to stop suddenly and get taken by surprise. Big difference in grip I suspect between 3 degrees C or colder on a wet January morning and wet like today when it is 13 degrees C.

In the light of a previous post, I went for Continental All Seasons (19”) on my Beezer 1st Edition. Couldn’t give a damn about noise or lower mileage; if you want more traction and therefore security in general UK weather, it’s a no-brainer. However, I do believe they’re a tad quieter, but just had them for the past month so impossible to tell about mileage.

How is is the difference between the best and the worst supposed to be? In reality, on other cars, I've never seen any great difference with swapping out some tyres rated B or C for fuel economy for something far grippier with an E rating. If the difference between A and E is way less than 5%, I would not be bothered in the least, and that certainly seems to be my prior experience on previous hot Golfs, Sciroccos and Polo's.

Worth remembering that the noise rating is for outside the car - it’s measured by the car driving past the sensor. So it won’t necessarily translate into being quieter in the car.

Magazine tests where they actually measure in the car are better for this. But it may well be different in different models of car etc…

Indeed - the dB rating often has no correlation with the interior noise. I have direct experience of this: in a previous car (Golf Alltrack) I replaced the Michelin Primacy with Michelin CC, at the time both having exactly the same noise rating. However, the fitting of the CCs totally transformed the car: much quieter, more compliant ride (filtered out the 'buzz' from the road surface), steering 'feel' improved (in my opinion) and of course all of the advantages of all-season v summer tyres.

Another surprising thing I've noted about tyre reviews: the ranking of tyres can depend on which particular size is being tested, so in some tests the CC is ranked highly for being quiet, in others, it isn't. Strange....

Thanks all, there are a few on the FB group who have gone for the Perrili all season tyres. They don’t seem to having a huge effect on range but defiantly have the added bonus of some extra grip in the wet/cold.

Living in Hampshire by the sea we get snow maybe once a year and it’s generally above 7deg C most of the time so full winters aren’t needed. I am defiantly going to go for a set of all season tyres, I will let you know what I get.. Cars not due till dec so I have some time to figure it out.
