They are equipped with new hardware and the brand new software generation 3.0.

They'd better get 3.0 right, that's all I'm saying.

Not what I meant πŸ˜€

People read a lot into .0 releases - look at the annual release circus around .0 iOS and Android updates. They expect step changes in speed, functionality, UI, stability, all sorts of things. Bumping the major version number is a big deal.

The ID.3 is outside of its launch window now, where 1st Editions and early adopters can forgive a lot.

That’s all I meant by they’d better get it right. Rather than branding this as a 2.4 or even a 2.5 release, they went straight to 3.0.

Fingers crossed.

2.0 was certainly a good step up from it’s predecessors, fingers crossed that 3.0 brings plenty of new capabilities.

I guess that depends on whether you're talking about content or delivery..
I appreciate that you got on the 1st movers list, but you had the 2.3 update 2 months ago, I had an email 1 month ago and yet still here I am wondering if I will get the 2.3 update whilst there's frenzied excitement that there may be another update announced today.
I have to keep reminding myself, I love the car, as does my other half, it's given 6000 miles of trouble free driving so far and cost pennies to do it, but VW's inept ability to role out a software update, actually to design the car originally to accept a software update at any time instead of having a specific 'day'. (reportedly) is souring the whole experience.
At the risk of repeating myself, what's really annoying me is that the Nav software isn't updating either. I got the online manual updates, I got the We charge update I have a green light and all the other connectivity seems to work. VW have just responded to ask me who My Mobile network is provided by? This I cannot understand at all as I thought the update was driven by the in car eSim and whatever network that was partnered to.

My response was in the context of content.

VW did say it could take weeks from accepting to receive the 2.3 update to it being available for any given car.

The nav database seems to be updated at VW's end every couple of months, nobody's should be too far behind the very latest version. I drove a 2010 Mercedes til a year ago, it never had a nav update in the 5 years I owned it. My expectations of in-car nav systems aren't high, when you can use apps through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto which are much better.

Which I appreciated, but having grown up in the era where 'Please allows 28 days for delivery was the norm.. ' I was hoping that delivery would be more 21st century, it seems VW are as vague with updates as they are with actual delivery.

I don't really use the Sat Nav as such but was working on the principle that some of the speed sign data comes from the same source (maybe they don't). That said, as it's supposed to update I expect it to.. I only carry 2 passengers as there's only my wife and son, but I expected the car to come with all it's seats.

There was a comment in their ID. group on Facebook that it could be up to 6 weeks. Considering this is the first time they've pushed out an OTA update to pretty much ID.3 and ID.4 on the road, I don't think they're doing too badly, that's not to say there is no room for improvement!

I believe the speed sign data is part of the nav database, it comes from https://wego.here.com/ apparently, and will affect ACC and Eco Assist rather than just the in-car nav system. I don't believe VW have ever stated how frequently it should come down to the car as an update.

In March VW announced ID cars would receive OTA updates every 3 months, starting in Summer 2021 i.e. Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring.

So will there be another update before 3.0?

It's possible. They never said 3.0 was the next update - just that it is a version that will launch with ID5

I have the same problem, Nav not updating itself. The 2.3 update came through about a month ago. I'm in North Wales too. As it happens, my car (ID.4) is going in to Sytner VW N. Wales today to investigate why it is not updating and why the car does not have 4G signal on my drive when there is a full 4G signal.....

Oh.. let me know how you get on, I acknowledge that I don't do many regular long journeys (greater than say 30 miles) but I have done enough and in decent signal areas, I would have thought. I am off to Anglesey to sort out some Family business on Friday so will be out and about for a few hours, though who knows what reception I will get on The Island. (In the car)

I have been using Apple maps recently. It knocks spots off of the VW satnav. Maybe Google maps is similar?

That's not really the point, it's nearly six weeks since I accepted OTA updates via an email and I am not getting any kind of update and all VW keep telling me I need to start the update from the Goodbye screen.

Does anyone know which network VW uses? The car could be trying to access (say) O2 while the phone uses (say) Vodafone? My phone and car show different numbers of bars most of the time.

Assuming that Cubic Telecom haven't repartnered then it's Vodafone.. (I think)

Updated, that should have said Re-Partnered they signed a deal with Vodafone in 2012

Sorry I never got back to you on this, haven't been on in ages.... Sytner tried to do a manual update to the Nav database but managed to balls it up and we had a bit of a falling out about them needing my car for two days to achieve nothing. ;)

So I tried the manual update of the Sat. Nav myself. Went here https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/en/car/ and downloaded the update for my car, then followed the instructions in the "Update Manual" PDF here https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapu ... r_2020.pdf

This brought my Sat Nav up to the November version (at that time, updated more recently) but the important part is when this completed, the OTA updates to the Sat Nav database started coming though. I now have 22.7 installed "as if by magic"

Sorry for the late reply and I hope still useful.
