Hi all,

I just came across this YouTube video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYocFX7 ... =TomMurphy

I didn't think the ID.3 was available in red? It's not on the configurator. I've ordered a Glacier White ID.3 - I thik I would have gone for red if it had been available.
Order date: 9th October
Spec: Family Pro Performance Glacier White Andoya Alloys
Original delivery estimates: March, April, May now Autumn
Previous build weeks: 19, 22
Status: 10
Estimated build week: 2022 wk38
** Cancelled **

Its in the MY22.5 updates.
I believe the configurator needs updating to show this but I guess it will be done when the Tour finds its way back on it at the end of the month.

Interesting that there doesn’t appear to be any interior changes, assuming that’s a MY22.5 car.

My current dilemma is whether to change my Max order to Kings Red and Sanyas, instead of Manganese Grey and Andoyas.

I hadn't spotted it was Ireland.

Some googling of MY22.5 does seem to indicate king red is being added for the UK. The ID.3 looks good in red - if that had been available when I ordered I think I would have gone for that colour. But, changing my order would delay it (I think). So I won't bother.

Only if your build date has been confirmed…. you can make changes up to that point with no knock on.

We were disappointed red wasn't available, went for turquoise, which we're very pleased with (it also seems to be the favoured colour for the brochure).

When I was getting insurance quotes, one company wanted to know the colour, but their database wouldn't accept "turquoise", so it was put down as "blue". Do accident rates (whether of "guilty" or "innocent" parties) depend very much on colour of vehicle?

If I was even more cynical than I am, I'd think the changes in colours would be intended to give a clear message about "this is a NEW car", an extra appeal for those who want to proclaim having latest and greatest - other aspects of the update probably aren't that obvious?

Was it an urban myth that red cars used to command a higher insurance premium?

Like the myth traffic cops used to play snooker with car colours… unlucky if you’re red or black!!

An Insurance broker told me years ago, that white was the colour that was involved in more accidents. Might have changed over time though.

I’ve been to Germany about a month ago and saw the red ID3.

I’m sure it’ll appear on the UK configurator when they update it next.

I'd have described that Turquoise as green rather than blue. Not many of them around despite it being by favourite colour (I couldn't get one when I got ours at a good discount and already built).

Audi S3 - because I hate rapid charging for long distance driving.

The reason that GPO Telephones changed from dark green to bright yellow in the 60s was that in rural locations the vehicles were not at all noticeable. Highly undesirable when the technician is on a ladder up a pole nearby. I can't think of the last time I saw a dark green vehicle, but dark grey seems quite common.

I see DTD are listing Kings Red as an option now, and also Dusty Grey/Soul Black interior.

Same for the Family trim too. I'll be happy if I get Art Velour, it's a nice material.

I believe its something to do with the colour spectrum. Sodium lights being in the yellow spectrum don't have green in their spectrum, therefore green cars will appear grey and not as pronounced. I think!
