Hello all,

I have a August 2021 ID3 Max Pro and I have noticed recently since the software update that the charging speed has decreased significantly.

For example:

50KW Charger - Charging rate inside car on dash shows 35-40 KW
22KW Charger - Charging rate inside car dash shows up to 39 KW
Home charger 7.7KW - Charging rate inside car dash shows up to 25KW

Prior to the update the 50KW charger would 108-110 inside car on dash. Im worried there is something wrong with my vehicle.

Any idea on what the problem could be?

Many thanks!!

How are you working out the kW rate, seeing as the car only shows it in mph?

Reduced “range” now it is cold will also mean lower mph figures being reported.

I’ve had 2.3 since August and haven’t noticed anything different happening with charge rates.

Essentially, when I am using faster chargers, I am not seeing the benefit in mph rate during charge. Before the software update I was seeing higher rates when using faster chargers.

Anyone else experience this?

Did you consider that the winter range reduces so the miles per hour would be lower in winter than summer?

None of your numbers make sense, how have you worked them out?

i.e. You've never charged at 22kW the car is limited to 11kW so you are saying you got as fast a charge on 11kW AC as on a 50kWDC charger that is very unlikley.

As Scott says, the car reports in mph and for someone with average consumption 3.3 - 3.5 m/kWh then on an AC 7kW charger 26mph would be a likley figure for the car to report. (Not 26kW), The figures reported by the fast chargers themselves would be in kW though.

Charging depends on a multitude of conditions and is not linear, so
Temperature almost above all else.
1. Had you been driving for a period of time prior to charging (Temp of Battery)
2. What was the SoC when you started charging (|You'll only see really quick/High figures at low SoC)
3. What was the SoC when you finished (After 80% charging slows considerably so if you are charging to 100% on a 50kW you'll potentially take as much time in getting from 80 - 100 as you would if you stopped at 80 drove on and then charged from 10 - 80 later on.
4. At what point in the charge did you look at the readings to obtain your figures above? (as above, if on the 50kW it was at 90% then it would be much slower than if at 20%)

This is where I enjoy my connection to Tronity as it shows the actual rate of charge from a kWh perspective not the km/min.

I’ve seen no difference since 2.3 at all, in either direction.

As you haven't answered this question it's difficult for anyone else to know what might or might not be happening.

Me neither. All data when chargjng reports are very much the same post 2.3. The figures you are looking at are likely MPH not KWH on all but DC.
25 mph likely on 7kw charge
39 mph likely on a 11kW charge (22kW)
Those figures would be reasonable if you were averaging around mid 3s/kW
Have you got a screenshot.
As Anduain says Tronity reports are clear.
