I actually wanted the assistance package when I placed the family order and was disappointed it wasn’t an option. I do a lot of motorway driving on M25 so having traffic jam assist was very appealing as well as side assist. It is odd that side assist is not mentioned at all. I kind of feel such a safety feature should really be standard.

If you use the configurator to add the Assistance Pack Plus, the 360 degree image clearly shows the Side Assist indicator lights in the door mirrors. So even though it's not mentioned specifically in the pack blurb, I suspect you'll get Side Assist if you spec the Assistance Pack Plus, and in the previous brochure it was name checked. Another example of the configurator being shirtballs on detail

Interestingly, my dealer had emailed to suggest that, "after speaking to Volkswagen,", cars built in the new year will have the "the latest software and systems", when I asked about park assist.

Just been in touch with my dealer about adding the Assistance Pack Plus to my Family Pro Performance as it wasn't an option at the time of ordering in Oct and he contacted VW and they have said that they "should" be able to price protect my original order meaning I should only have to pay the additional pack price without having to pay the new prices that were introduced on 1st December. I was told they won't 100% know until they do it.

I've been told he will instruct VW only to make the amendments if that can honour the original car price etc and I'll just pay the difference for the cost of the extra pack.

Lastly, he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't move me to the back of the order queue even though I'm currently Status 10 Week 14.

Just an update. I’ve successfully added the assistance plus pack to my Family Pro order without it affecting my original car and pre-existing pack prices. It also didn’t affect my finance agreement and I still get the VW finance deposit contribution so well chuffed.

For me, it is the side assist and area view which swing our decision.

but at a cost of over £1k for side assist and area view, i am not sure many people will go for it.

Similar for the information plus pack for the HUD and 2 additional speaker, my current Prius has HUD and would like it but the the navigation funtion only availible through the standard Navi and not Google Map mean not much use, so again £2K for limited use of HUD and 2 speakers seems excessive for me.

I picked Life over family because I wanted the assistance pack over the things that came with Family. I'm happy people are getting their wishes, but I'm not sure I want to risk a place in the queue. I have a feeling that the price of the car might go down, with some more features like matrix headlights, but I'm a bit risk-averse to all this.

So my dealer assured me they wouldn’t change the order unless they could guarantee that the price wouldn’t change apart from the pack add-on.

What is odd is I can’t find any mention of side-assist on the Configurator at all anymore. I really hope this is still a feature as this is something I really wanted.

Yeah I know it was listed as a feature in old articles but since 1st December I can no longer see it mentioned on the configurator. Just wondering if it’s been removed on MY 22.5

It might not be listed but you can see the Side Assist warning lights in the configurator images when you add the Assistance Pack Plus. They’re on the body of the wing mirror facing the door glass, most easily visible on the 360 degree view.

I’d be hopeful you’ll get your Side Assist with the Plus pack.
