It's quite mild compared to one pedal you get on Mini/Leaf/Tesla and others.
Careful now...
Well I have driven those cars as well as an ID3 and e208 and I would describe the effect with one pedal type regeneration as more dramatic and sudden than B mode on either the ID3 or e208. Not sure how much greater the regen is though...so mild seemed an appropriate description?
I agree, you’re completely correct. But I got told off for straying from a straight answer
FWIW I’d much prefer the same effect you get in a Tesla.
One thing that seems to be missed out in almost all car reviews is that VW has integrated regenerative braking into the actual brake pedal.
Unless you brake very hard the mechanical brakes aren’t used. The car just progressively ramps up the charge to the batteries based on how hard you brake. That’s a pretty impressive feat of engineering. I’d much rather that than be having to mess about with what is effectively an auto brake setting on the steering wheel.
I’ve not done one peddle and it might be the best thing ever if I tried it but VW are trying to sell Electric cars to the masses, not make them rethink how to drive a car. When I did my test drive I quickly got used the way B mode worked but actually having to move my foot to the brake pedal to stop the car didn’t bother me and I didn’t use either in traffic because I’m used to ACC (which is bloody fantastic when combined with an EV)
The regen braking is also linked to the sat nav and the car will automatically start to slow the car down when the speed limit is changing to recover energy.

If the mechanical brakes aren't used so much, what's the chance that the discs will corrode faster than on standard braking systems? It's obvious I am no mechanic, just the driver! I believe disc corrosion can be a MOT fail.

VWs have had a "dry wipe" feature on disc brakes for a fair while now. Periodically during the journey, the brakes automatically go through a series of light clamping "wipes", intended mainly to keep the discs dry in wet weather. Those wipes will keep surface corrosion at bay.

More info like that and you will make me a fully qualified mechanic. Thanks
