I keep the aircon on in my Prius all the time and the set point to 20 degrees. The further away from setpoint the internal temperature is the harder the fans blow. On cold mornings the fans don't blow hard until the water in the radiator is warm/hot.
Just realized that I have no idea how the heating works in an id.3. Is it an electric heater element similar to an electric fire that heats the air?
First trip away from home
Yes that’s exactly how it works

That turns everything off and sets temp to Off. Typically I have temp set to 20, AC off and fan as low as it will go. Pressing the demist button behind steering wheel puts fan into high and AC on. Once windows clear, pressing same button turns things down but not back to where it was before turning it on. I have to press the Climate button, then turn AC to off then turn fan to low.

The solution is to simply not turn the climate control off. In turning it off manually you're stopping the climate control from managing the internal humidity of the car, which is why you're then steaming up again. Let it do its thing without you messing with it - use "DEMIST" then set the climate to 20 and let it work

Sounds good, but if I leave it on as you suggest there is a constant airflow which I prefer not to have. The demist works very well, a blast of a couple of minutes clears the screens, I just wish turning it off returned climate control to it’s previous state rather than a default.

Understood - SWMBO has similar issues with “being blown on all the time” and I myself normally point the vents full down/up so my eyes don’t dry out too quickly! There’s no “perfect setup” I guess
