Abnormal ?

Dropped into Weyhill Services (off A303) yesterday evening for a quick charge to get us home. The Genie charger delivered 6.57kWh without too much grief and we left with a range of 82 miles. Within 4 miles the range indicator had dropped 18 miles to 64 ! We found this worrying particularly as the Genie charge was only our second experience of public charging. Any ideas as to why we experienced such a rapid drop in range?

If you didn’t climb some hills and/or put your heating on high it’s hard to explain.
I assume you were just continuing a journey with similar speed and driving style - ie. No real step change in driving behaviour.

So 6.57kWh would give you something like 20-25 miles depending on your efficiency. 3.5kWh - 4.0kWh What was your indicated range when you stopped?
Dropping 18 miles in 4 seems extreme unless you were climbing hard or pushing along a bit?

OBICCFC - Thanks. Yes, spot on; continued at the normal speed and driving style. There were a couple of hills including the one up to Stonehenge but nothing too serious. The aircon was on though.

G43FAN - Thanks. Indicated range was 27 miles following arrival. The red figures indicating a 9% battery charge (never seen a battery % before) alarmed my wife!

Was your car nearly brand new when you got it?

Our ID3 was delivered new a year ago last week with a predicted 250 mile range. This dropped, quite quickly, to something more realistic. This week is standing around 225 miles when fully charged.

Might be interesting to put estimates of your situation into ABRP and see what it predicts for your drive to home. ..

At the moment my 17 month old first edition is showing 220 miles for an 80% charge and its done that for the last three times , benefit of warmer weather
