I wouldn't read much into those articles, it's all "ifs" and "maybes" conjecture, they don't really have a clue.
That front end design is highly unlikely - the ACC sensor placed in a little frame at the lower front calance has been tried on the MK7 Golf - ACC was quite flaky with those sensor types and the sensor was in a prime location for clowns with towing bars to knock. That ACC sensor will be staying behind the badge where only a significant front end shunt will damage it or stop it working.
