I recently arrived too early for a meeting and parked up in a multi story and decided to waste time reading a book.

How do I shut down the car (auto lights, media etc) without using the lock function on the key....which I tried but inadvertantly set off the internal motion alarm.

On the 'Goodbye' screen - shown when switched off (set to Neutral/Park) and you're about to get out of the seat - the display shows a few options: one of them is 'Internal monitoring' at the bottom - disable this.
'Internal Monitoring' enabled means the car alarm system will look for changes in the internal space. Disabling this means you could sit there while switched off without setting off the alarm, assuming you didn't open any doors! (keep the key fob handy to unlock...)

You can switch the lights off by using the control buttons on the panel next to the steering wheel. I usually have mine set to Auto, but if I am parked and don't want the lights on I press the Auto button until you get the 'Off' option. It defaults back to Auto again as soon as you switch the ignition on.
You can turn the Infotainment system off by pressing the On/Off button.
You can lock the doors with one of the switches on the drivers armrest where the mirror adjustment is.
