I've got a VW 2020 APTIV IC-CPD granny cable to charge my ID3. There are 4 lights on it, whichever plug socket in my house I plug it into it flashes the red 'X' fault light (this is when it is not plugged into the car).
I've not had it work yet, do you think it's the cable or something about my (house's) circuitry?

Get yourself a socket tester to make sure. They're less than a tenner from Toolstation. But you might want to read the documentation for the cable as it should tell you what the flashing red means.

If you google aptiv.com you can download the manual for the charger.Reading this it looks like your charger is faulty as it seems to require you calling the service centre.

I've had this happen. It seems as though the granny charger carries out some sort of circuit test and decides if it's safe or not. I've had issues in places where the circuits were very old or not properly earthed. In any modern installation (house) it has worked fine. It's probably a good indication that you would benefit from an electrician carrying out an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) at that property!
