I have an update from VWCS via the dealership. "As per Week51 2021, tyre repair kit is removed from standard specification." However, they did not answer if the Bridgestone is a Be-Seal (AirStop) tyre! waiting for their response on that.

The fun continue!
According to VW website, they are still listing only the 19 and 20" tyres as " Sealed Tyres "
That's the information I have from when I order back in Sept 21, my point is if it is In lieu of tool kit and tyre mobility kit. They should at least provide the right tyres.

They really don't have a clue sometimes, When I ordered in November my order lists the 18" wheels and Tool Kit, this was confirmed this year again. I really wish they would make up their mind.

Mine came with a granny charger and no type 2 lead! They didn’t mind me hanging in to the old type 2 from the life I was trading in!

The 18 inch Derry Alloys do not come with Airstop or B-seal.In fact as stated in an earlier message,VW want you to contact their breakdown service if you get a puncture, hence why they do not provide a pump and gunk, only a basic tool kit.Cute hoorism as they would say in Ireland.

Hi Guys,

I have an update from VW Customer Service this afternoon, they are awaiting from the Head of Product (VWUK) reply to confirm resolution, what I gathered from the call is once you have upgrade to East Derry Alloy options, AirStop tyres should be fitted, however there is no AirStop tyres for 215/55 R18 fitment from Bridgestone. I offered them the chance to upgrade my alloys to 19" as a resolution (don't expect they will go for this :-)).

The fun continue.

Hi Guys,

VWCS called again this afternoon and offered resolution, they offered to replace existing tyres to AirStop tyres, when I pointed out the Bridgestone Turanza, Continental Eco Contact & Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance in 18" are not AirStop. They offered 19" wheels as replacement, the only catch is the they want the replacement at the supplier dealer (70 miles away), when the local dealer is 1 mile away. I have requested the replacement to be at the local dealership and awaiting their decision.

The end is in sight!

I'm amazed they're swapping 18" alloys to 19" wheels that cost about £700 more rather than either fobbing you off, or buying you a bottle of gunk and a pump.

I think that is because they are no longer providing the tyre mobility kit to any ID3 and I pointed out to VWCS that my order is for AirStop tyres as part of my option selected and I would have gone for the 19" alloy option if AirStop tyres are not fitted to the 18".

Anyhow, I hope it can be rectified quickly..... furthermore I pointed out to VWCS that they should proactively contact the customer with the wrong tyres fitted with the East Derry 18" option and offer resolution. As far as I know, East Derry alloy option from September 21 describe AirStop tyres are fitted. You can still download the ID3 specifications in PDF on the VW UK website.

Let see if they act on it :-)

Hi Guys,

I have got a further update this morning from VWCS, they have withdrawn the 19" wheels replacement offer, however offered £1,000 compensation and tyre mobility kit (long lead version) to be pickup at local dealer. I have accepted this offer. Overall, I think is a good result.

Also, VWCS confirmed that there is no AirStop tyres for 18", basically the information provided is incorrect.

So, for those who has the 18" East Derry option ordered from September 2021, this is something to consider.

Many Thanks

That is a great result. They normally do nothing for you, especially off what is essentially a minor typo in their part in their literature.

I emailed VWCS about the same issue yesterday and they said they cannot deal with it and to talk to the dealership - did you have to go through the dealer?

Hi there,

The steps I went through:

1.) Email Dealership to ask about the Tyres supplied and the lack of Tyre Mobility kit to the car (21/07)
2.) Dealership emailed VW (Sales and Generalist) (22/07)
3.) VW replied to Dealership explaining the mobility kit is removed from build on Week 51 update (25/7)
4.) Received reply from the dealership about the mobility kit is no longer provided (26/07)
5.) Replied to the dealership explaining VW reply to them did not answer the question on the Tyres fitted (26/07)
6.) Contacted VWCS and raised compliant about their response to the dealership (26/07) - Case reference no. received
7.) Dealership sent my update queries to VW (26/07)
8.) VWCS called to provide update and awaiting product team to confirm if the tyres fitted are 'AirStop' (02/08)
9.) VWCS called confirming there are no 18" AirStop tyres by all their supplier and discussed resolution (09/08)
10.) Email sent to Dealership to see if they received a response from the updated queries (08/08)
11.) Dealership explained as I have raised a complaint, they are not in a position to offer further assistant (09/08)
12.) VWCS called to discuss resolution options (09/08)
13.) VWCS called to update resolution offers (£1,000 and provide tyre mobility kit) (12/08)
14.) VWCS confirm resolution offer (£1,000 send via post and tyre mobility kit to be pick up at local dealer) (12/08)
15.) Tyre mobility kit picked up at local dealer (13/08)
