I really like the look of how the fitcamX fits behind the rear view mirror with no cables etc.

I have been using a NextBase camera for a few years now and really like it but having a camera without trailing wires sounds pretty appealing.

Good luck they made a total b***s up of mine and failed to return to take it all out, I had to pay another guy to install the camera and remove their failure, really poor customer service from RS Connect.

In short, you unclip the housing under the rear view mirror and put that to one side - the camera comes ready installed in a new housing and you disconnect a plug in the mirror, the new housing comes with a piggy back cable - just plug in to that and roberts your dads brother. very neat finish which looks like itv was put there by vw plus no cables to route. I believe they do the same kit but with a rear camera but I decided against that as it would have involved wire routing etc which I was nervous about. Great images, an App to review and it does all the normal auto save in an accident - even came with a 64gb memory card. Cost £170 (when I bought it in Feb 24).
Nice one, love the hastle free fitting and OEM look, just purchased one 👍

Hi, can anyone confirm that the Fitcamx can be fitted to a 2025 ID3? Their website says up to 2024, just wondering if anyone can verify that it works? Many thanks.

It fit my 2024 id.3 no problem, don’t know about 2025 model.

This is such a prescient post. Just back from a weekend on the motorways, and so many bad drivers.

The fitcamx feels like a great fit as I hate wires.

I ended up with a NextBase - not the most recent one - with a rear eyeball. I ran wires, but rather than wiring it into the fusebox, I just used the 12V socket in the boot. Hiding some more of the wire is firmly in my when I get around to it list. Works OK.

I did a similar thing. Went for a Miofive which has been excellent and wired it to the 12v socket. I got most of the wire hidden with just a bit at the edge of the dash.

I think I’ll leave it as-is rather than trying anything with the A pillar trim.

I decided against the Fit cam x as I can transfer the one I got to another car and it’s also way cheaper. Also I can use this one without needing another app on my phone to control it. The lack of screen on my Garmin mini was a mixed blessing (transferred from my old car to the wife’s).
