So just gone through the software upgrade was on 2.4, very late to the game on this, but it took me 7 months to get an appointment.

The experience was very good (so far) at Frank Keane VW (Dublin), got a courtesy car, T-Roc 1.5L petrol, felt it was a major step back in ride, comfort and sound deadening. Was alerted on day 2 that the upgrade hadn't taken at step 5, and VW Germany now involved, car handed back on day 3 all done. Passed the battery check also.

Now runing on software 1741, no idea what that is, but the car did a quick additional upgrade back in the driveway. Charging perfectly, and have bought all the VW free packages in the in-car shop to get the App running again.

Many thanks to all the contributors here (esp sidehaas), it made this process a lot more illuminating and easy to understand, my one quibble was the handover guy propably not up to speed, I felt I knew more about this process than him, he was amazed when I enquired on what software was the car now running, his reply was 'the latest'.🤣🤣

I got an update today and got quite interested in what it was. Turns out it's just a Shop update, not sure if the same as what you got? It actually updated itself while I was driving, I noticed a notification and selected that while I stopped at some lights. It proceeded to update as I moved off although it switched to the "For safety reasons..." mode in the foreground.

Still remains at 3.7 (no patch version or anything like that)

I also got this “important” update, but I think it had a side effect with my charging limit. I charged last night and always have the limit set to 80%, but this morning I notice that it charged over that limit. When I checked the app, the charging limit slider was at 100%. Fortunately I had set to charge via my Zappi. I had set that to cut off at the time it should have been at (about) 80%.
Anyone else have any update “side effects”?

I’ve not noticed any issues myself. The limit is still set ok at least and charged last night as expected to 80%.

OK. I can’t think of anything else that would have moved that slider from 80 - 100%.

It's nothing to do with that update. Mine has been doing that occasionally for a while.

People with charge limits moving unexpectedly, I assume you have checked it isn't because of a difference between your location-specific charge settings and the general charge settings? I know this trips up quite a few people although I know you've both had your cars quite a while.
I've never personally seen the target just change randomly, although in the past it never used to change back to 80% when it should have done after a higher charge with battery care mode enabled. That has recently become more reliable.

I don’t have any location settings set. Since I moved away from IOG to Agile, I have been using the charge timer in my Zappi. I haven’t purposely set a 100% limit for some months now, but when I did, it did revert to 80% afterwards. I have never experienced this charge level anomaly since I have had the car. I suppose it could have been my finger trouble in the app, but I don’t think it was, that’s why I thought perhaps that the recent minor shop update might have been the culprit.

Under the 'battery management' thingy on the new software, it told me it would automatically move the charge back to 80% for the next charge after I gave it a 90% charge for a long trip. Is this the answer?

Mine too, it’s random and nothing to do with location.

I bought my December 2021-registered ID.3 from a VW dealer a couple of weeks ago. It's on 3.2 and I was told that was the latest version available for my car.

No one has it ota yet. It seems that the 3.2 u0grade programme has morphed in to a 3.7 upgrade programme for people who are still on 2.x or have a fault that a software change might fix.

Interesting as I'm sure I read that the CPU in pre facelift id3 wasn't up to any new software, sounds like it might be.

I'm sure they can update the software many times yet if they want to, whether it is much different is a different matter. 3.0 and 3.2 are a good upgrade on earlier versions though.
