Hi All,

So great to see an active forum with so many really useful posts as I try to learn all about the ID.3

Travelling all the way from Bristol to JCT 600 in York tomorrow to test drive and hopefully complete on a 2021 ID.3 Family. 15k miles and SoH at 90%.

Dealer says they've done all their checks and I'll be getting the Approved Used Benefits so happy I'm covered.

Theyve also reassured me that it's all upto date with software updates etc.

Any more questions I should be asking? I understand that there's been some battery recalls on dodgy modules for some cars, presume they would have checked all that in the checks?

Thanks for any advice!

J

If it helps at all, I have had great service from that dealer site in the past. I’m talking about the actual tech guys, can’t comment on the sales people.

If it is on the latest software and has no recalls outstanding (VW dealer should be able to confirm this) then any required battery work will have been done.
The only additional thing I did before buying our used ID4 (our ID3 was new) was ask the salesman to show me the list of all work done on the car by VW. They can pull this off the system easily. There was one car I ruled out because it had been to the dealer 3 times with infotainment issues so I thought it probably had an unsolved recurring issue.

The main thing to look out for on the test drive is the infotainment either turning itself on/off or turning the temperature up of it's own accord. These are red flags that it might need a new infotainment unit. A fairly common issue is anti roll bar link failure - this causes a knocking sound over bumps- but they are cheap to replace anyway.

Have a good trip and I hope it goes smoothly, they are great cars.
