Just following the tyre topics and wondered if you get a choice on tyre makes fitted at the factory? We had a choice with wife's Porsche Macan and chose Michelin all seasons. Managed over 40,000 miles. Mind you she drives with fuel efficiency in mind! We take delivery of our ID 3 early September.

No, you'll get Goodyear, Bridgestone, or Continental - but no choice.

I’m a bit …. OCD …. about tyres on cars, to the extent that I’ve been known to immediately swap all 4 tyres on a car for decent ones over factory fit ones. I’d be interested to know your thoughts on the Goodyear being the best of the bunch there (rolling resistance ? Stopping distance ? Wear ? Noise ?)

I changed the Turanzas out on day 1 when I got our 2019 Polo GTI+, as they were abysmal on our 2018 GTI+. Bridgestones are just all round poor, trading on their F1 credentials.

The compound is rock hard, so traction and turn in grip are sub par in the Summer and atrocious in the winter. Fuel economy is poor, as is ride comfort. Traction isn't too bad considering its RWD (they tramp hard on a FWD car) the only positive is that they're hard wearing, which prolongs the agony if how crap they are. Every time I've swapped them out, the difference is huge.

The other week, I was flinging the ID3 around a bit on a hot, dry day and it was so easy to flick the back end out.

My views on Bridgestones might seem extreme whinging, but once you swap out, you realise how crap the Bridgestones were and how much more planted the car feels on pretty much any of the other big makes.

If I was replacing right now, it'd be something by Michelin or Goodyear.

Nope, your views on Bridgestones entirely match mine and I consider them reasonable, proportional and well-thought through :D

If my ID.3 ships with Bridgestone’s, they’re going to get swapped for Michelin’s at the first possible moment … unless the Goodyear’s are better. Conti’s I’m less allergic to generally, but I still don’t rate them!

Michelin Primacy 4. I haven't put them on the ID 3 but when the time comes I will. Had them on my tiguan at the front after the Hankooks had worn out. Same volume but felt like a different car. Also had them on my Polo GTI before that, great tyres. Good year also I can agree with.

I've come from a string of performance Golfs, Sciroccos and Polo's and I usually get Michelin PS3, PS4, PSS. The tyre choices for ID3s are a little different as it's not a hot hatch and the tyre sizes are officially for SUVs.

I usually get my tyres from Costco, as they look after the wheels well, and there are 3 choices, All are 4 season tyres by either Michelin or Goodyear. With the current Goodyear offers, they can be had for about £96 a corner fitted.
