I've just read this and it made me smile. I can confirm I don't live near an RAF base... 😁

Well, I live under the flightpath for RAF Scampton (cue many hours of Red Arrows flyovers, great for our visitors) and we have a smart meter installed which works well with Octopus Go. There is also RAF Waddington the other side of the city and I have never heard of any issues with those folks I know who live near that base.

However, these are not missle defence bases and so probably don't have the same issues that Flyindales has. I would imagine that they have fairly strict rules regarding placement of transmitting devices in a certain radius if the base.

Maybe my proximity to Heathrow and Gatwick explains why my smart meter fails to connect for several days each month and loses data regularly? Or maybe its Voodoo....or just the WAN technology isn't reliable or mature just yet. Lets hope the three minute warning from Flyingdales is a bit more reliable - hate for the system to be down the day its needed

We might not know when the bombs are coming, but we'll sure know when to plugin in for cheap charging!

To be honest, if it comes to us needing a three minute warning, I'd rather not know. There are times when ignorance would be bliss! :)
