Delivery time

Looking at the spreadsheet, some of you have had estimated build weeks back (May/June 2022) which are of similar time to my order - 26/10/21. Will i really have to wait a year to take delivery

Given the data thus far I'd have expected somewhere between May and August as a reasonable delivery window. Past performance doesn't guarantee future performance of course, so it might be that VW begin to solve their component supply chain issue in the first half of next year ... but that isn't something I'd want to hold my breath waiting for.

An update on my order that I placed in early July. On November 22nd I was told that it had been built and then I received the following this afternoon

UPDATE- Just been told that my car is now at the dealers!! 48/72 hours after being unloaded! Should be picking it up at the weekend/early next week

can only assume all the ID3's are shipped but mines waiting for a rowing boat to get to Tyne instead.

Keep an eye on the City of Oslo. Could be a Tyne visit, maybe it will go via Grimsby or possibly straight to.
Mine spent 2 weeks in Emden and was on the sixth ship after being released.

Yeah I keep checking to see if City of Oslo has been updated as still showing its destination is Emden....even though its there

Just checked my 27th July order (Family Pro Performance 58kwh - Manganese Grey, East Derry alloys.). Am now being told it's moved from original week 49 2021 to week 10 2022, so late March/Early April delivery. Presuming nothing else happens I guess... That's the 3rd pushback and it's getting longer. Starting to regret it now as my current BMW i3 is going to be needing tyres etc soon too if I keep extending the lease...

Interesting and frustrating Jimrod. Seems you've ordered an identical spec to me (I ordered Aug 12th via DTD), my dealer told me (on 3rd December) that I had a confirmed build week of 49.

Who knows. I'll give the dealer a nudge again towards the end of Jan\Early Feb.

We had a Leaf on a 3 year lease that went back in October & loved the EV life, really missing the pre heat right now! So at the moment we are down to 1 petrol car, it's fine for 80% of the time but it recently went in the garage for a few days which was a pain to say the least. So not in a mad rush for it (luckily!)

Yeah, I keep doing the mental maths of buying new EV's or just going retro petrol and getting an 80's Mercedes or something - the lease EV always wins but now I'm getting more tempted to go for the latter! Though the recent petrol "crisis" did remind me of one big EV benefit!

I'd imagine your situation with delivery should be similar to mine given the ordering time and spec - the system was updating a couple of weeks back so I pushed again today and was told the bad news, unless they're actively keeping an eye on it I'm not sure how much they'll be telling customers but that was pretty recently you spoke to them - in theory yours will have been just about to go into production from when you did!*

Waiting for an update from the dealer. There is hardly any clarity from the dealer. This is so frustrating.

It could be worse We ordered pretty much the week after you and are now being quoted a build week of 2022 22 (Original 202151).

We've got Hodor and his two friends holding the door open in this story, Jamesv12 and slug56.

This is my update this morning after (hopefully) asking about my confirmed BW40 Max:

Currently your vehicle is still showing confirmed BW40 and still at the factory.  We have seen a few vehicles move to status 30 over the past week or so however currently your vehicle has not been assigned a chassis and therefore has not completed its production.

I'm not sure I even understand the "not been assigned a chassis" comment. I'm guessing a VIN would show in the VW order system maybe, if one has been allocated?
And as for "not completed its production", can it even have started without a chassis?!

It sounds like they add the chassis to the system once build has been completed. I was told the same by my dealer that he'd know when its completed build when he can see a VIN. So they might already have it allocated at the factory but don't update it on the system that our dealers see until they complete build

You only see the chassis/VIN once the status code moves onto code 30

Well 5 months into the order and "Status 10", production scheduled (in 3 month's time)... but not confirmed. Feeling very positive about choosing VW again after my Scirocco with injector failure at 17k miles... "If only everything in life were as reliable as... A Kia?".

Interesting that there's a months order time between the 2 above posts but both at dealers around the same time. Is there any logical sense on the processing of these orders?
