I ordered a life pro, moonstone grey, east Derry wheels from select car leasing. It was due late Feb, but I cancelled. I decided to buy rather than lease, plus I went for family pro instead. Wonder whether the car is my cancelled order?

Curious - did you go for a family just because you were ordering again so you thought you may as well, or anything specific that was alluring to you?

I considered Select Car Leasing but what I found is with another company - Planet Leasing.

I think I've made my mind up that I'm going to stick with my order of the Family I ordered, so if anyone sees this and is looking for a Life Pro Performance relatively quickly on a lease deal - Planet Leasing may be your place to go.

Originally thought of getting the life pro but it was too much of a downgrade of what I want in a car the sweet spot id3 value for money in terms of features was business and family trim the higher trims were diminishing returns cost v features and not worth it imho. I went for the business trim, was best bang for buck, keyless entry , matrix light, reverse camera as standard. Basically it's was nearly the same as family except for sun roof which I couldn't care less especially with the UK weather.
No wonder vw discontinued it as they probably made less profit on it and was arguable best value trim.

Matrix lights are well worth it especially longer nights in winter and if driving country roads etc

I haven't got my car yet but I was actually put off the family by the options.

Far prefer sensors to camera after an incident in a car park when I discovered there is a blind spot on the Prius camera.
Didn't like the tinted rear windows and I'm perfectly happy with normal lights

Everyone is different at the end of the day you can't go wrong with any of the trims all depends what you want and care about in a car your budget and mileage I guess. I would say all trims are well refined cars.

For me the life trim was too basic for my needs and business was the sweet spot

I think the upholstery on the life put me off abit, it reminds me of a 1990s IKEA sofa or a Ford Escort interior. I have young kids and thought the panoramic sunroof might be a hit with them. I also like the lights at the front joining up to the badge which you don't get with the life. Then the rear view camera is the icing on the cake.

Unrelated to the OPs question, but I just configured a Life to the same spec as our Max order and it comes to £46920, compared to £41775 for what looks like exactly the same spec Max.

Agree the life interior and seat are not as nice as the other trims, and if you got kids out doesn't have 30 abiient lights interior and also the head lights aren't as nice, no reverse cam, etc

I think this was part of why I ordered a Family in the first place instead of a Life. I test drove a Life, loved it, then went home and configured my "ideal" model, starting with the Life spec. Quickly realized the Family spec had basically everything I added to the Life I was configuring, at a cheaper price...

I guess the appealing aspect of the Life trim is if you don't add anything at all to it (maybe with the exception of changing the wheels) - then you get a pretty good EV at a lower price.

Thanks everyone for their notes, not managed to reply to everyone specifically. A lot of thinking with my wife and deciding to stick with our family model. I have a reversing camera in my existing car and it's too nice not to have now. I also thought that, well, if we're spending this much money on a car, AND it's the first brand new car we've ever ordered, we may as well get the perfect one that we want - rather than just getting what's ready sooner. I am starting to trust that it's worth the wait!

The same happens with companies like Dell - standard spec laptops are priced very well, but if you upgrade a lower spec to the equivalent of a higher spec it's classed as a custom build.

It's a bit different now with the change of prices to just a few months ago. I'd probably like Matrix headlights, but having never had them I'll presume I'll not miss them and I don't really like the tints and the sunroof. Adding all the packs in my signature was still £1000 cheaper than a max, gave me the best seats (family still doesn't let you upgrade to style plus) because Max was outside of the grant limit and the Life was not.

Now everything is grant-free, the Max is probably a far better value offering. The increase to Life's price and value of family will probably make family the default choice now.

Interestingly for me the Family was cheaper than the Life on my company's salary sacrifice scheme when comparing them with same motor/battery. Hence it was a no-brainer for me to go with the Family.
I guess this is all down to residuals ?
