Turned the car (LIfe model) on yesterday and the climate screen was only showing the Classic Climate view. The Smart Climate simply wouldn't show. The screen was showing in the position of the set temperature icon, just a constantly spinning circle. I left the car to do other things for 3 hours and when I came back, all was well. Has anyone experienced this? Is it an indication of a potential developing issue with the Climate Control, or is something and nothing - just a glitch?

I'm not sure what you mean by Classic View v Smart Climate?
I see an AC status on the right hand side of the screen in normal display mode.
If I select Climate I get the full screen where you can select auto, fan speed, AC etc.
There is also a screen when you turn off on the silver button that is I think the standby mode settings.
Did you get a shot of what you saw?
Either way it sounds like a glitch rather than any developing fault.
My car is now 16 months old and It still occasionally has its moments although far less since 2.3 SW. Most common one for me is a black display if I jump in and pull away quickly before it wakes up. Can last for several minutes and may need a reset but it's rare.

I think my wife took a photo. I'll see if I can get hold of it. If you search in the online manual, classic and smart climate are mentioned. Unfortunately, they don't show any screenshots in the manual. Have they never heard the phrase "a picture says a thousand words"?

Wow. I don't think I have this on mine. Life model!
I need to go and look. I can't say I have ever noticed other options in the Classic Screen.

I got the photo from my wife's phone. That classic climate photo doesn't look like the one I saw below: I must check if our car actually has the smart climate setup.

If you have a single zone Life spec, you don't have the multiple views, just the classic.

I believe the Max and Tour get an upgraded form as they both have 2 zone climate.
Sorry if I've shown something you expect to see but may not be an option on your particular trim.

Our Family has it too, but our Life doesn't.
