Hi Calum. I too have just ordered an ID3 from Plan Leasing (a Tour Pro S) for delivery Nov time on that same (extremely good) deal, so am reading this with great interest. I’ve had self parking on my cars for the last 7 years and never ever used it, but the memory seats would be very useful so am hoping mine has that on. Re the supplying dealer, would you mind sharing who that is please?

Also general question to the forum: is the interior seat trim likely to remain the same as on MY22? Just asking as that’s the only thing I was a bit hesitant on when ordering (not keen).

Having just taken delivery of an MY22 Tour... the inside looks just the same as the MY22.5... better trim - I have no idea whether I;ve actually got a 22 or 22.5 as the Tours have an upgraded interior anyway..

About the only thing that will be missing on 22 are the side sensors for the auto lane change with travel assist. That would be cool to have - but its no deal breaker (for me)

Turquoise wrote: Tue Jun 14, 2022 11:48 am Are you very fussed about different seats and some extra sensors? Because the battery change and update to the 3.0 software will be available as a dealer update later...
Looking at VW's track record, we've had one over the air update, after a dealership update which involved changing the control unit in a lot of cars (they had my car for 4 weeks to do this update and it had other faults on it when it came back). There are still a few cars which are struggling to get this update nearly a year later. They're now having to change the battery and do another dealership update to allow existing cars to be updated. How long will this be repeated before they stop offering updates for pre MY22.5 cars? My preference would be to have cars pre-fitted with the latest versions of modules which are updatable without a trip to the dealership. I suspect there has been a lot of redesign work of the cars electronics to use newer ICs that are available rather then old legacy parts.

Exactly my point - I'm currently driving an earlier version of the MK8 Golf, numerous software issues and hardware limitations that have now been addressed in MY22, but a lot of the software updates are not available for my car as I don't have the newest 'Discover Pro' infotainment hardware.

In my opinion, despite the deal offered being unbelievable in this market, no deal is worth the amount of hassle so I would much prefer to have the most recent revision so I have the best chance of paying to drive the car, rather than paying to have it parked at a dealership for weeks on end.

Anyone know if the steel wheels will be replaced by alloys?
It's important to realise that the steel wheels are the most efficient. If the default wheel is not the steel rimed version, they have to announce that the WLTP range of the car is reduced and every mile counts on the advertising.

Just consider the car to be £800 undervalued on the presumption that practically everyone will upgrade (even if it's +200 to put the nicer hubcaps on).

Edit, to actually answer the question: MY23 is announced (search my posts on the right to find it) and it does not have wheel changes. In fact, it has no physical changes.

Sorry to ask what might be an obvious question, but in what way is the Tour’s interior trim different to other trims? I’ve taken out a lease on a Tour having had about an hour to check the spec by eyeballing outdated web pages / old brochures etc and as far as I knew it was the same trim as others apart from the Life variant.

Tour has vegan leather (pale grey) on the dash and door cards (nicely brightens the interior too I’ll say. Seats are electric with 4 way lumbar thingy and a massage function (odd!). They have the leather trim - Alva tea sides and some snazzy slightly glisteny fabric in the middle.

That may be (apart from the seats) what MY22 interior is! But it was quite different from my 2021 life interior.

For completeness - the MY22 Family interior trim design is as per the Tour in that pic, not the Life - but while being the same colours I think the seat material is a bit less premium. (They called the colour scheme platinum grey/dusty grey rather than platinum grey/soul black, which is what the Life had. The platinum grey/dusty grey interior design seems unchanged for MY22.5 apart from the seats.)

FYI. My (assumed MY22) Tour interior as of 5 min ago 😁

Compared to my my21 life - I think the door plastics are darker and the centre console sides/panels are darker too. Obviously the seats and door inserts different too.

(I don’t mind - the side sensors for the auto lane changing with 3.1 would have been cool - but it’s not a real problem..)

That is confirmed MY22 interior. The MY22.5 interior for the front seats is majority light grey, whereas that MY22 front seats are majority dark grey. Dead easy to tell them apart.

Thanks both. So does anyone have a picture of a MY22.5 front seat / interior for comparison please? It’s an odd situation that we’re buying these cars without knowing the actual spec!

Says a lot about the appeal of the car itself that it’s almost a secondary issue, I suppose.

Second post down on this page. No Tours or Maxes have arrived in MY22.5 yet, but the MY22 Family interior design is identical to MotMot's Tour above except for the extendable bit on the seats, and the only change to the Family for MY22.5 is the seats, so I think you'll see the same design for the Max or Tour.

Hi

Passed by our VW local dealer today, they had an ID.3 outside awaiting PDI. Not to sure what model it is, but one of the sales guys said it was a Life Pro. I did note it had side sensors.

So - the 22.5’s all have these side sensors. So can have the auto park feature (when 3.1 arrives iirc) but they won’t have travel assist that would use them for auto lane changing?

22.5 cars also come with 3.0 which already includes Park Assist, You need a 22.5 Tour/Max or Assistance Plus Pack on Life/Family models to get Park Assist Plus ( Memory Parking ) and Travel assist with Lane Change.

Or Max's to my knowledge. I was told that any models not already built / confirmed for build will now be MY23, but whether that applies to Style/Family/Max/Tour as well as Life is anyone's guess.
