Not sure if anyone here has been paying attention, but the price of a Tesla Model 3 LR has just gone up again and is now at the same price as a Model Y LR. They were £5k apart until very recently.

Strange times.

Crikey, add some nice wheels and coloured paint and you have a £58k car. Not a chance.

Curiously though it isn’t that expensive compared to the competition out there, which is a bit sobering. A broadly similarly specced Polestar will after all set you back a broadly similar amount 😀 And look at the pricing on the Ariya. Even Skoda break the £50k barrier now.

What also prompted the post on this was that I had an offer today to buy a Q4 e-tron 55 Vorsprung but it was nearly £70k.

£70k. Double crikey.

No wonder the ID.3 is so oversubscribed and the Born’s price is rising before anyones even taking delivery.

Yeah, Tesla prices make no sense any more - I can't imagine paying that amount of money for a car. My id.3 cost less than £30k, that's a huge difference to even a "poverty spec" model 3.

EV6’s up too. They’ll all be going up soon. Cost of materials - and the value of the ££ as bad.

Yes indeed, and delivery timescales too.

A cooking spec M3 will be 9-12 months now. MY’s are a bit easier, but now start at £58k.

We haven’t even taken delivery of our Y yet (Saturday!) and its gone up in price by £4k since ordering it. Thank heavens for price protection…

Frankly it looks like ~£40k is going to be the “floor” for mid-sized EV’s for the reasonably foreseeable future.

Stellantis should take this opportunity to coin it in at the lower end of the market if parts and pricing allow.

I don’t really expect VW to be occupying the sub-£30k bracket at all for some time.
