Ours has gone in for the update this morning. They've asked for the car for two days. They also said they would try to fix the driver's seat height adjustment mechanism, which I think I broke through clumsiness.
The only feedback I've seen on this dealer for other work is pretty terrible, but they claim to have updated a few ID3s without issue. 🤞!

my partners id.3 was booked in @VW (Nuneaton) today for the 2.4 update, but on arrival was told they didn't want to do it as the two cars they'd attempted to update on Friday were now both dead & un-driveable.
(why they waited for us to take the car in this morning rather than phoning us to cancel it i dont know - but i guess at least they've not 'bricked' our car too, so a small mercy i guess)

Im hoping that is just a dealer 'training' issue (maybe they didn't complete the battery swap first??), but not good sign if there are any issues later (software related or otherwise).

Doesn't sound good does it? Just as well that we have had no notice at all from our dealer regarding the update. Or from VW direct via email, etc. for that matter.

Mine is in next week. They booked it in for a day!! Reception said they’ve just done one ok. Local dealer branch shut down 4 months ago so it’s a 70 mile round trip. No ev courtesy car available either so I’ll probably be stung for fuel . Never had a courtesy car with more than an egg cup full of fuel on pick up. No cost upgrade? We’ll see. At least the knowledgeable technician from local branch went over to them. Hope he’s still there.

Mine was done in a day. Dropped off at 8. Ready by 5. All seems fine. Good luck with yours.

My dealer has just entered its 3rd week doing an update on their first ever attempt.
Does not encourage much confidence in them somehow.

I live in Fife. Went in to Specialist Cars Kirkcaldy/Dunfermline about four weeks ago and got car booked in for Monday 25th July at Dunfermline Service Centre - only one trained technician.

On arriving, found they had started update on another iD3. It had problems and mine was delayed - already cautioned that update could take two days as they had to follow an exacting format. Got call on Tuesday to say it needed final check on Wed morning and picked car up at 09:30 Wed.

Dealers were very open and honest about dates/times/problems so cannot complain about service. No problems with car after update - Family Pro model.

They now have revised update bookings to ensure only take one car every two days until they refine update procedure

Same here, but my neighbour was contacted a couple of weeks ago he got his car after mine so I guess they don’t contact you by how long you’ve had the car.
When he took it over he was told it would be a week so didn’t get it done

Mine went in last week and on collections 2 days later it had a replacement 12v battery and the paperwork showed a software update (97FS) and a power cable sealed action (93P5). On colelction the software showed 2.3 and 0910 the same as before. After 3 over the air updates whcih occured sequentially over 4 to 5 days days it showed 2.3 and 0912 whcih I was informed is 2.4. And now ready for the 3.0 over the air update when my car is selected. I am assuming this is the sequency others have realised?
cheers, happy ID3 driving!

My iD3 tour pro has just been booked for 2.4 software on the 29th august,2 months after arriving by then, and mine is the 2021 one which was parked as VW didn’t have equipment to finish the cars so doesnt have side sensors but it’s still a nice car.

My Tour went in Thursday for the same. I was told two days, but when I phoned Friday pm to check I could pick it up I was told the update was only a third through. The service team don’t work at weekends so Nothing doing until today. Called this afternoon and was told they couldn’t get it to recognise the front left proximity sensor, so they were waiting for Vw to let them know how to resolve. Maybe I’ll have it back tomorrow! Thankfully I have a courtesy car… but it’s diesel, noisy and I had to put fuel in!! Thought I wouldn’t have to do that any more!

Day4. The dealer was asked for some readings from ODIS yesterday, which they have provided. They don’t expect the car to be ready today.

Having read this thread I decided to try and book an appointment for the update at my local VW garage. I get the impression I would never have been contacted by VW as promised. I have now made an appt for next week. Fingers crossed.

Dropped mine off today. No progress today as they spent 6 hours charging the new battery, they did not understand me when I suggested that they could have done this yesterday before I dropped my car off. Piss-up brewery comes to mind.

I'm still hopefully that they will get the update on the car at some point this week. 'maybe'.

We got our car back this pm and the update has all been completed successfully as indicated. Shows 0912 etc. I don't think there were any hiccups. They also fixed the seat for me.
Unfortunately the people who actually handed it over late in the day did not seem very knowledgeable and were convinced we needed to find a permissions menu in the app and change the settings to allow OTA updates moving forward. They couldn't find said setting in either our app or their own, so they came out to the car and looked for it there, but didn't find it. The recent wecharge update was waiting to be done again (having previously done it when we had 2.3.) Does anyone know anything about this whole permissions thing and whether we need to take any action?

Edit, in any case anyone was wondering, the process seems to have used 2-3% of the main battery from drop-off to collection. We dropped it off at 80 and got it back at 77.

Mine is booked in for tomorrow (we shall see) - I booked online, no one has contacted me. But the job sheet they have sent makes no mention of the replacement 12v battery.

Does every id3 need the new battery, or possibly just the earlier ones? Mine was built late 2021, delivered late January this year.

Has anyone had the 2.4 update without a replacement battery?

I too booked online. No mention of the battery change but service receptionist said battery was being replaced too. I did check before I drove off and indeed a new one is there. I received no paperwork whatsoever. Like other posters have mentioned my high voltage battery only lost circa 10 miles post update.

Initial experience with 2.4 for me - seems slightly less laggy at least initially - also the sunroof control has changed. Before, any sort of careless swipe forward or back in our car used to fully open or close the sunroof. Now, you have to hold your finger down in the right place for the sunroof to continue moving forward or back. If you take your finger off it stops where it is.
This makes it easy to put the sunroof in any intermediate position, which we couldn't before, but it makes it more tricky to operate a simple open/close. On the whole I preferred it before. Anyone seen this or is it just our car?
