I need to get my wheels/steering re-aligned and given it's got Lane Assist, the price the I've just been quoted is eye watering so I thought I'd check to see if others have faced similar issues.

Been quoted £150 for the wheel alignment and then £300 for the lane assist calibration(!) - so £450 in total. Is that a normal price or is my dealer having a laugh? Maybe it's both.

The cars drifting left slightly and the steering wheel is not aligned centrally when driving in a straight line, so something needs doing.

The bloke on the phone did suggest I could just do the wheel alignment but I was under the impression you can't just align the wheels, you'd need to recalibrate lane assist too or else it might be dangerous.

Just check your tyre pressures before committing - you might be a bit low on one side (unlikely, but possible), wouldn't explain the steering wheel alignment, unless it's always been set 1 spline out from centre.

Is this on a new ID3? Shouldn't be necessary on a new car unless you have hit something with force.
Warranty if not accidentally damaged.

Yeah it’s 7 months old. I figured I’d have a hard time trying to claim on warranty but the steering’s always felt a little out, it’s not so noticeable but figured now that I have some time I’d try and get it sorted.

I’ll have a chat with the original dealer and see what they say.

In my experience a fault large enough to cause a car to drift or requires the steering wheel to be realigned results from components on the steering geometry having been replaced; track rod ends, or mechanical damage to the wishbone assembly or mounts following an impact; large pothole, sliding into a kerb on ice. I have a local wheel and tyre specialist who charge £30 for an alignment check and then extra cost per wheel for adjustments. Its a 4 wheel alignment rig. I think individual wheel adjustments are £25 but have never had to go further than the check. On this basis though worst case cost would be £130.
I would make sure someone competent looks for any potential damage.
Lane assist????? Would have thought that to be self calibrating as its a visual feedback from a camera....I think.

If the car is pulling you to the Left, towards parked cars, I'd say Lane Assist is working as intended.

Turn Lane Assist off and make sure it's not that intervening? Other than that, probably as above - car's had a pothole impact or similar.

IMHO your dealer is talking absolute bull. Lane assist works by aligning your cars direction to detected road markings regardless of the wheel alignment. The wheel alighnment is all inside the lane assist feedback loop. The only time lane assist needs recal. is if you have a new windscreen fitted and the cameras need to be re-aligned.

He may be more confused than talking total crap. A new wheel alignment used to require ACC recalibration also, which was about the same amount of money quoted. Wasn't convinced it was really required unless the sensor was removed or nudged. I'd just go and get Hunter wheel alignment elsewhere , although it might still mean your steering wheel not facing due North. It could have been like that from the factory, but if the car's pulling to the left the dealership will blame a pothole impact or similar.
