Its surprising how addictive it is. Using https://www.myshiptracking.com/ and https://www.marinetraffic.com/

I found that VWs carriers tend to end in "Highway", with the exeption of the Autoprestige. i have watched a few come and go from Emden, I thought mine may have been on board the Autoprestige which is currently heading to Grimsby, but i have not had the the status 39 phone call so it seems my hopes there are dashed. Ah well back to keeping my eye on little green triangles.

Autoprestige
Schelde Highway
Neckar Highway
Weser Highway
Elbe Highway
Ems Highway
Danube Highway
Isar Highway
African Highway
ID3 Tour, Heat pump, sports pack, moonstone grey

How sure are you that you should've had that phonecall? Wouldn't be the first time that never happened.

The are another few car carrying ships that used to (and probably still do) deliver VAG cars to the Tyne/Grimsby/Sheerness ports and these are:-

City of Paris
City of Rome
City of Rotterdam.

I'm waiting for an Audi S3 coming in, it's been at status 38 (released to port exit) for at least 3 weeks, maybe more. It was an already built car for stock that I've jumped on, 3 weeks ago. Every week the salesman says "it'll probably ship next week".

I did have another thought about this. How many cars are dropped off each time the boat comes in. Eg the 2nd last boat to the Tyne came from Emden and went straight back there? I made the assumption the boat was full.

So, how many vehicle transporters do they have for each port? And how many cars does each transporter carry? Presumably there will be a delay while the transporters travel too and fro to dealers?

Looking at the size of the car parks at the docks where you can see all the new cars (why are there so many white ones?) but looking at that then my guess for how many the boat drops off is exactly 1.4 shit tons of cars. Usually a car transport (HGV) carries 11 cars when full and make you sort of cringe when you see them, especially the one that looks crushed on the low level behind the cab and the one danging over the top of the cab too.

I suppose there will be a delay with customs, each car must clear, But i have no idea how many transporters each port will have.

I can see the ships come into Tyne from my house. They usually drop cars off then load up with Sunderland built Nissans to take to Finland or Netherlands, depending on which way they're going, and then back to Emden to fill up again. Who're you buying from? Pulman? Lookers?

The dealerships close to the port get cars delivered very quickly. Newcastle/Silverlink Lookers and Sunderland/Durham Pulman branches typically get their cars 3-5 days after ship arrival. My S3 is coming into Grimsby port for the Grimsby dealership and I've been told the same - very little time from port to dealership because of the short distance.

Now watching the Isar Highway, its loading up in Emden bound for Grimsby. Im guessing Port 40001 is Grimsby, though it could be Tyne, I really am not sure as its 6 and two threes between Grimsby and Tyne for Cumbria.
Here is to hoping as my car has been sat at Emden for over 3 weeks now, its got to be some where near the front of the queue.

3 weeks sat at Emden seems to be about right for now, so hopefully shipment is imminent for us both.

Ahh, that'll be us getting ours by Christmas if it goes by distance 😂🤣😂.

But seriously, your answer confirmed my thoughts - start local as they don't have far to travel, and can get a lot of cars out to customers that way.

They had better get a shift on with them, a ship unloaded yesterday in Grimsby, with other unloading there now and another Grimsby bound ship finishing loading for departure tonight.

I wonder they have been saving them up in Emden so they can bulk move them on double time over the bank holidays.

Ober the last few weeks, I've been watching port activity and have been seeing at least 2 ships a week going to Grimsby. Normally they are within a day of each other.

Starting to think Location 40001 must be Tyne, there have been more ships than enough Emden to Grimsby but my car is still sat at status 38 in location 40101 (Emden). Its been there a month now, must be a good bar or something.

EDIT - Nope found out location 40001 is Grimsby, my car is still at Emden but its estimated to be on the next ship which is on Friday.

There may be multiple locations at Grimsby e.g.

1. Just offloaded from ship.
2. Cleared Customs.
3. Organised for onward transportation.

Perhaps first 3 or 4 digits apply to Grimsby generally and last digit or 2 refer to specific locations within Grimsby?

Just had news this morning that my car is STILL sat at status 38 in Emden. Apperently now there are "shipping issues" as cars to continetnal Europe are in high demand after covid.

I honestly thought this was over Takes them over 15 MONTHS to build a car and now is been sat waiting to ship for 5 WEEKS. Trying to get as much info as I have managed was like getting blood from a stone.

Will be interested to know though has anyone who had BW10 or later actually taken delivery of a car yet?
