Hi everyone

first post although I have watched the forum with interest for some time.

Is there a solution to stopping snow build up in the charging port area. I went to unplug the car at about 7am GMT this morning and the whole of the charging port was covered in snow. It took a few minutes to clear it. I also had trouble closing the flap...took about 5 attempts before the latch engaged.

We charge overnight and so I also worry about wind pulling off the charging flap....it does seem quite a poor design.

any suggestions/ solutions please

NO Snow here but -3 and I discovered that my charging flap would also not latch. Had to cable tie it closed eventually. The post and locking part was moving and spinning freely, just refused to stay closed.

Edit - A couple of hours in the sun and all OK now

I have used a hair dryer to warm the mechanism and thats been successful. I was wondering if there is a cover you can get to stop the snow accumulating....

I saw a review for a car recently where the charge port cover was hinged to open upwards, rather than to the right.
Such a simple thing but would be so much better.
Annoyingly I can't remember which car it was!

Yes.. I think the Audi etron does that.
Beats me why most manufacturers persisted in mimicking an ICE fuel flap which is generally only open for 5mins under cover. As opposed to being open for hours in the open and a temptation to numpties to see how sturdy it might be.
I got some magnetic strip and polythene to make my own.. though a bought one is probably better!

That would have been the one I saw. Agree it doesn't stop snow blowing in but it would help quite a bit I think.

The hinge at the front may make it more stable against airflow while driving?
I'm tempted by that cover though.

i suggest you to use a cover, apply silicone spray, or consider a magnetic cover. Parking in a sheltered area can also help
