App not updating, asks me to buy a contract

Last Sunday at 11:50 was the last update my "Volkswagen" app received. That's when it was last synchronised. When I tap on the charging state it says I need a contract. For seeing the charging state? It has worked for 2 and a half years.

When I tap settings I no longer see the slide bar to change the charging level. I have to do everything in the car. The car shows 4G. I tried pulling fuse 19 for 10 minutes. The built in Sat Nav no longer shows traffic or charger statuses so it looks like a real data issue. As it's the car I don't see how deleting and re-installing the app would help.

Has anyone else seen this? If so, what's the fix? Do I really need to pay for a contract?

We Connect Plus (charging/clima/charge level/range in mobile app) is free for 3 years.
After that it's 239eur for 2 years.
You can go the vw portal website, under your profile there is a "Contracts and contract periods" section.
We Connect is free.
We Connect Plus will have a contract period, it will probably say something like ended on this date, click here to extend, etc.
I still have a year+ left so not sure on the exact wording.

Thanks, it says my contract has expired. I had no idea that I would need to purchase a contract for basic functions like being able to see what the current charge state is or change the charge level. When you are charging at a service station, for example, you need to be able to see what the charge level is. They didn't tell me that when I bought it.

Although theoretically you could have to pay for this, everyone I've seen with the same problem so for has found that it remained free to reinstate even after 3 years. Just go to the in car shop and download weconnect, then weconnect plus. My bet is it won't cost you anything.

I suppose somewhere there is a phone bill to pay, but I'd also assume it is going to be a bulk one, not even per car.

@sidehaas - you pointed me in the right direction. I had to go to my account and "buy" a load of free services. Including games!

Thank you all for your help. VW in Letchworth are oblivious to this. They booked the car in to check it out. That will no longer be necessary
