Hello

I’m having issues with charging my car at the times I want, I wondered if anyone else has had the same issues and or I’m missing a setting somewhere

I recently brought a second hand ID.3 from a VW dealer, it’s 2021 and has about 20k miles on it. It’s been updated to software 3.2.

I have a zappi v2 charger and octopus intelligent go (which is linked to the charger not the car)

When I first connected it, it set a smart charging schedule and started at the right time but then carried on charging after it ended using the higher rate. It kept doing this and I couldn't work out why, the car and charger had no locations or schedules set, they were basically in dumb mode with octopus controlling it.

After looking online I decided to set the charger to eco++ mode and set a boast Schedule so it could only charge between 2330-0530 but it didn’t charge during time for some reason.

After playing about I managed to get it to start charging at the scheduled time but again it didn’t cut off, it just carries on charging to the 80% set in the car.

It’s like the car won’t let it stop charging once it starts but I can’t find out why, any ideas?

I haven't used Intelligent integrated with the car (I have it integrated with my Ohme charger). However, I used to use the in car scheduling a lot just to charge between 2 and 6 when I was on Go Faster. What the car seems to usually do is apply the charge target as a priority over preferred times. Or in other words, they are preferred, not the only possible times, at which it can charge. So if you set a charge target and it doesn't manage to reach the target in the preferred time slot, it will carry on afterwards.
You might be seeing a similar effect when Octopus is controlled the times via the car. The way to resolve this would be set an appropriate charge limit in the car. Soif you have asked Octopus to charge the car to 80% (for example) also set an 80% limit yourself in the car, not 100%. It's highly likely this would solve the problem I think.
Definitely don't set a separate schedule in the Zappi, that will mess things up. If there is even a few seconds offset between them, the device that tries to start charging first (charger or car/Octopus) will find itself unable to do so and potentially create an error or re plan a new schedule. It's a good rule of thumb never to set a schedule in more than one device, regardless of tariff or situation.

There are two places you can set the target charge in the car, a general setting and a specific one for the preferred times. If you haven’t already done so, check that the preferred times settings page has your desired target.
It’s not unknown for that value to change, seemingly of its own accord, so when enabling preferred times on the exit screen, I always check that both the times and target charge are correct.

I don't have an answer, but I also have a zappi linked to octopus, we have two electric cars.
Mine (id3) charges to 80% and the car stops the charge which is what I want, but no matter how much I am set to add to the nissan it carries on charging beyond the request up to 100%
I have to stop the charge and disconnect to ensure it stops.

Not figured out why yet, but sounds like an octopus/ zappi issue rather than car

What are the battery sizes of the two cars? Are you doing the mental arithmetic needed for the difference when calculating the charge to add?

Yes the account is linked to the nissan 87kw and I do a bit less when charging the id 58kw it's about 2/3 but that one stops at 80% anyway, just the other than car that carries on
