I’ve ordered one in Ireland and have the signed contract. The salesman carried on discussions and put the order through the system with no suggestion at any point that the price was anything other than advertised.
I don’t believe something like this is a mistake, especially after it survived the edit of the brochure/pricelist.
There has been some speculation that this is strategic: VW: selling these models at a loss to improve the fleet average to avoid punitive penalties (and sell lots of high-margin luxury ICE cars) under the European Green Deal.
OTOH, Ireland is such a small market, I’m not sure how much sense that explanation makes.
I am going to order mine tomorrow.
I looked at the specs of the UK model vs ours and it looks like some aspects are stripped back for us. No park assist, Harmon Kardon sound system or power seats, for example. Noting that would bother me. I have park assist on my current ID3 and I have neever once pressed the button.
The Cupra Born VZ is €62k here, more in line with the UK price, so I assume that comes with more toys.

You’re not comparing like with like. The Irish GTX Performance Plus” model is the same as the UK GTX Performance model. It includes park assist, the Harmon Kardon sound and the ergoActiv seats. Sells for €40,420 on the road.

Yeah, those are the two I was comparing. Mine's ordered anyway. Black with the 20" black wheels. Thanks for that PDF. I was comparing the equipment lists from the two configurators which don't match up with that AT ALL. I thought 40k was good value anyway, but now I think it's insane value! How on earth is it so cheap here, especially considering the Born VZ is 62k?
That pdf hurt my soul.
It appears VW will sell you a top of the range 326bhp 79kWh GTX id.3 for 40.000eur but still offer the 204bhp 77kWh NON GTX model for 47.000eur and the Irish are still on the fence! Unbelievable!
The €40k is after a €3,500 government grant and slightly less than €5,000 relief on VRT (vehicle registration tax). But the price is anomalous even in the Irish context as you can see by comparing it to the other prices in the ID.3 brochure.
It’d be a complicated transaction and a lot of hassle but might be worth it.
Hi, new forum member from Ireland. GTX Performance Plus in Mythos Black ordered start of October (only extra added was the cycle carrier tow bar prep). I'm hopeful of a January delivery but no build date info yet. Currently driving a 221 ID4 Pro but downsizing as kids are grown etc. Couldn't get my head around the pricing when I ordered, like others I assumed it was a pricing error but no, confirmed and ordered by the dealer. Are they on the road in the UK yet or available to view at the dealers?
Also does anyone know where the sub woofer for the H K sound system is located in the GTX and does it remove much of the boot space? No demo models to look at over here and can't find any info Online.
Thx D.
On Order - ID3 GTX Perfornance Plus Mythos Black with Cycle Carrier prep.
The subwoofer is in a small accessible compartment under the boot floor where the tow hook is stored. I saw a picture somewhere but can’t seem to find it.
Update: found it. You can see it in the cued up section of this video:
