Been getting low 12V battery on our First Edition iD.3 (2020, bought approved used)
Have connected my CTEC charger to top it up, a Varta battery. I can't see anything about what type of battery it is.
Can anyone help.
Is it another Wet/Gel or AGM?
Type of 12V battery
If the car is a 1st edition, the 12V battery would have been changed under a recall at the same time as it had the 2.4 software update. Unless it's never had any updates or recalls completed, in which case that's your first priority, and you would get a new 12V as part of the job (this seems very unlikely though since the 2.4 recall was 2.5 years ago).
ID.3 Family Pro Performance (Jan 22). Also an ID.4 Max. Ohme Home Pro charger.
I had the 2.4 recall a few months after I got the car. The 12v battery was not changed. The traction battery was checked at the time and it passed.sidehaas wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:16 amIf the car is a 1st edition, the 12V battery would have been changed under a recall at the same time as it had the 2.4 software update. If it had 2.4, it would have had a new 12V battery at the same time, it was part of the same recall for all cars.Nerdy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:07 pmI had the 2.4 recall a few months after I got the car. The HV battery check went with the 3.2 update, not with 2.4 (unless you had them all done at the same time).

Yes you are correct. The car had 2.4 when I got it. Subsequently had the 3.x update
If the car was already on 2.4 then it has what VW calls an EFB+ battery, EFBs are just improved wet type batteries so use that setting on your CTEK.
Btw no CTEK needed on EVs, that’s the beauty of the traction battery.
You can just about see the EFB+ lettering on the battery if you undo the clips and hold the cover up enough to take a peak.
