Okay, I have the Enyaq for a month (1k miles) now and it replaced a VW ID3 Max. Here are my thoughts.
Coming from the VAG stable, a lot of the car was familiar if not the same. The bottom line is . . . I am happy to have swapped.
The two cars are quite different, with the Enyaq being much larger but the ID3 having more tech. This time, space was champion, and I don't think you can do any better for space than the Enyaq. A clear winner. But the Enyaq does win on a few things with the tech, I love that it locks the doors as you walk away. The ID3 was left unlocked numerous time! The hardware and software is so much better in the Enyaq, it is night and day better. On a more subjective note, I prefer the alloy wheels on the Enyaq over the steelies with bin lids on the ID3, no surprise really.
The tech I miss is the HUD, motorway lane change, the surround view cameras and memory parking. I especially miss the latter. But these are just too expensive, and I am managing okay. I also liked the VW goofy touch buttons and only having two buttons for the windows, I really liked all that.
I don't miss the glass roof, that is a personal thing, but I just don't like 'em. I don't like bright light. And talking of light, the headlights are much better on the Enyaq performing the merry night time dance much more proficiently. The suspension is great on the Enyaq and I don't miss the DCC on the ID3. And the ID light, it was 'fun' but didn't serve much purpose, seeming to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Oh yeah, I am enjoying the bigger battery!!
Finally, I do prefer the physical row buttons, especially for un/locking the doors and the hazard lights. It is so nice to be able to press the hazard lights button and leave your finger on it without it having a hissy fit.
I needed something bigger and I got it. If I didn't need the space, I would have gladly kept the ID3.

Glad you are enjoying the new car!
Just for the benefit of anyone wondering, the auto lock function and the new infotainment harder and software are all on new ID3s (and 4/5/7s) now as well.

Thats worth knowing. I would heartily recommend an ID3 if its size fits you.

The steering is light and lacks any feedback, but then, it's not the kind of car that requires that. It feels much quicker than the ID3, and it is. It isn't as economical, but then, we haven't really hit spring up here yet, don't be fooled by the cherry blossom, it's still very cold!
It is easy enough to drive and park but not as easy as the ID3, you can not change the physical dimensions, it is bigger after all. It is very capable on the motorways, esp with TA, but not had any issues due to its size.
If you need more space and space is king for you, then it's a good alternative.
I didn't think I would miss the surround view / top down view but I do. It is hard to judge where things end being so long! (& incompetent, my wife is shouting!)

Cool thanks. Interesting that it’s quicker, I was under the impression they were a bit slower although I’m comparing certain models of course.DumfriesDik wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 8:07 amThe steering is light and lacks any feedback, but then, it's not the kind of car that requires that. I’ve no real need for anything larger just now but I may do at some point and the Enyaq or ID.4/5 seem like good options from what I’ve heard.
