Hi
I think I’ve seen somewhere that the first part of the update is a small one and is done when the car is switched on or driving.
The second main update is when the car needs to be off and takes 4 hours.
So it may have been the first one you saw.
I’m sure others have more technical knowledge than me on this though
The 2.3 update is not yet generally available, beyond a small group of volunteers who have “opted in” to receive it.
My vehicle did a short update this afternoon. Only took a few minutes; telling me to leave the vehicle for at least 5 minutes before using it.
Did see any changes following a "successful update". I'll see what happens with the 2.3 update tomorrow, or next Monday!!
VW should have issued a statement telling folk what to expect for sure.
see pics.

The above video mentions an 'Opt-in'email. Is that a first movers only thing or do all owners get the opt in option? 7 mins or so
If it is all owners have non 1st owners been getting the email?
Yes it was a First Movers only thing, not all 1st Edition owners never mind owners of other specs.
Thanks.. I'll continue just driving it then.. not worth worrying just yet.
Small update happened. I should have watched thay German guy's video. My update tried to happen Tuesday last week and happened Tuesday this week. So note to self, my update day is Tuesday as it runs on a 7 day cycle.
Reckon ours is Tuesday too, completely forgot to get to the car first! Wife has now driven it to work, probably ignored it again if there was a notification

I got the 2nd part today also, however Part 1 wich I downloaded last week gave me a lot more symbols showing on the road sign recognition system, such as warnings for school children, road works etc. they have now disappeared and the software version was 3.3.0 is downgraded to 3.1.0. wtf?

After denying the update last Monday I still don't have the small one. I've got a suspicion that knowing VWs sick sense of humour, it asks for the update every week the same day. I wouldn't be surprised to turn my car on this coming Monday and it asks me to update.
Not quite sure what has happened with the update, if it was going to be the same day. Denied last Monday as needed to drive to work and then again when returning home denied again. Now today with the car having been parked in exactly the same place and adequate signal absolutely nothing. Is there any chance of VW communicating clearly and effectively how they plan to roll this out, or are they making it up as they go along? There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of transparency in this process, I appreciate it is new technology and they are undoubtedly learning themselves, but would it harm them or take a great deal of effort to communicate to their customers what is happening? Or am I expecting too much?
The weekly poll applies to the 2.3 update, which is not generally available, but it seems the tiny update that went out generally last week doesn’t have the same schedule from the number of owner reports through Monday and Tuesday last week (and few since)
Thanks for making my point, VW have made it far from clear what is happening. Where does it say that the ‘tiny’ update is generally available and that the 2.3 is not? I would have expected given my experience with BMW that I would have been contacted via text or e-mail. They have my details.
Having previously owned a BMW, which I was happy to get rid of, I had the opposite problem of being bombarded with information as a Connected Drive customer. Perhaps VW could learn something from their fellow compatriots on communication? To be honest though, I get the feeling that most people are just making assumptions or guessing on how this is being rolled out.
Just to add, I had the install come through today and drove to work with an excellent 4G signal, but the Update button remained unusable over the hour long journey. Parked the car up at work and nothing since. It certainly hasn’t updated with the ‘tiny’ install.

Not on any public VW website, to prove your point.
The 2.3 update is still only available for volunteers, which VW called for from their First Movers group.
The installation of the 2 parts of 2.3 will increment the software version to 0910, the couple of updates that have appeared in the last week (on a completely mixed population of cars) have not done that.
The small update (not tiny as it corrects errors and adds some small functionality) is the precursor to the large one as it also updates the update service
It seems that after a successful test VW wants to role this out to all ID3s now. After it has been done in most cars and settled down they will then do the larger one.
It is logical there is a gap between them

The 2 updates that have pushed out over the last week only add functionality related to installing updates, plus a tweak to the digital manual.
Neither of them have been “part” of the 2.3 update as such.
I did get an amusing error though today after the tiny update, on a piece of road near my house I've been on many times. I set ACC there as it changes frequently from 30 to 40 to 60, back to 30 etc I went into the 40 from the 30, it though the speed limit was 110mph! Cannot be a coincidence that I did the update today and then now I'm getting this.
Interesting our nav db is at 21.7 this morning (was 21.5), wasn’t aware of any notifications and nothing else seems to have been updated though

Mine is doing the 2nd of the 2 updates as I type this. I've got everything crossed that it works ok and doesn't turn my car into a very expensive brick!
Part 1 downloaded on Monday evening and installed on Tuesday morning, part 2 downloaded on Tuesday evening (the next time I used the car) and installed on Wednesday morning - all working fine and I like the tweaks they've made to the infotainment system.
You now scroll left/right to move between the pages of icons (rather than up/down), and can easily toggle between seeing the 2 pages of icons and the 2 pages of shortcuts by pressing the home button on the right of the screen, the button itself switches between the square and a set of small icon squares when you toggle between the icon pages and the shortcut pages, making it more like Apple CarPlay. You can also set the home button to be a VW logo or a country flag - that's a gimmick to be honest!
There are new uses of the ID. light but I've not seen any of them yet, and new highlights for when the car is reading roadsigns.
