Ah that is pure unconfirmed speculation then; there's a separate thread about that and the original Autobild article.

Far as I'm aware there's no confirmation that the ID.3's screen is going to 12". Maybe when VW update the brochure.

MY22.5 changes are effective from build week 48, so I'd expect a brochure update on Monday 29-Nov-2021 at the absolute latest with full details.

That's just referencing the same article that started the whole debate on this topic.
(Edit, I see Utumno has pointed this out.)
It seems inconceivable to me that they would start selling ID3s with an upgrade (the backlit buttons) in November/December that aren't in the new ID5 due out in March. I suppose it's possible the ID5s seen on videos today will get further updates before March but it seems unlikely to me that VW would show off a version today that isn't complete? They had the current design sliders without backlighting.

Current MY22.5 changes only mention a new colour Kings Red Metallic and a few other spec changes.

Especially when the OP presents a statement as fact based upon one uncorroborated source. This is how fake news spreads folks πŸ˜€

Do you think a software update will change the screen from 10 inch to 12? I certainly hope so.πŸ™ƒ

I consider a 12” screen in an ID.3 wishful thinking πŸ˜‚

At this stage, we're considering an ID.3 materialising as wishful thinking :D

In seriousness, apparently the ID.4 and the Seat/Skoda equivalents (one or more) have the 12" screen, and all it does it take up more room on the dash. No significant reason to be too bothered by it

At least we now know there is actually an MY 22.5 update and when it applies from. Detail seems a bit sketchy though. I do wonder how the communication is between VW and its dealers if the information they are given is that incomplete. I guess we will know for sure when the brochure and website are updated. To be honest it all seems a bit remote and irrelevant as I haven't a clue when the car will actually show up.

I'm not sure when my ID3 build date is. It was ordered late August. I was told it had a build ETA of around mid November.

You'd probably would have had an email by now if it were the case. A mid-July order is normally BW40 (w/c 4th Oct), so a late August one would technically result in a mid-late BW46 - but the backlog of cars is getting worse, so it's not unlikely to end up with a BW50+ (December), if not into 2022.

I found out my BW early-to-mid-september, and it's not even guaranteed that it actually gets started, never mind built, within that week. I think most are at least 6 weeks from BW to built.

I ordered at the end of July and my build week is currently 50 so I'd presume at the very least then (Mid December). Family Pro Performance.

I agree. Seems that once you get to 10" or thereabouts, screen size is like pixel count in digital cameras - mainly a competitive marketing ploy. If the info on the 10" screen is insufficiently legible, perhaps a visit to the optician would be more useful (& safer for other road users) than a 12" screen.

The screen size change may also arise because of component supply & continuity issues from the LCD manufacturer updating their product range. (Product manufacturing life-cycles are very short throughout the electronics industry).
