A number of threads have mentioned how easy it is to change the pollen filter. How do I identify it on my ID3.
Thanks for any help.

Under the bonnet it’s here (above) squeeze the tab where my hand is and pull back (toward you) and the cover comes off. Filter slides out. 10 second replacement job.

It’s taken me far longer to post this than do the change!!

Thank you.
And how much do we think VW charge for doing that job?

People who don’t know better; there are many around who will just pay the servicing cost whatever it is.

To be fair VW are only as bad as the rest of them.

The pollen filters do seem a bit tricky to find online. And are about £20… but it’s £1 a second to fit at those prices!

Hi
I use a Mann FreciousPlus air filter in my current VW https://www.mann-filter.com/en/parts/ca ... splus.html

Seems to work well.

They list part no FP 36 006 for the ID.3

Found it listed for £17.45p plus pp at autodoc.co.uk

Why would I need to change the Pollen filter? How would I know it needs changing?

Open it up and have a look - generally replaced every year or so...

I’ve just had a look at my pollen filter, I doubt there is an easier one to change in any car.

Incidentally, should there be 2 filter elements, I only have one and it can be installed at the top or the bottom which indicates to me that there should be 2 ?

If it’s every year, doesn’t the ID3 have 2 year servicing intervals?

Some people would change these annually, on some cars. VW doesn't require you to.

I suppose the frequency might depend on how much dust, spores and pollen there is in the air where the car is.

One might consider fitting a HEPA or similar filter, so as to screen out smaller particles. Again, depending.

Short of replacing it, taking it out and shaking the dust off will increase air passage, probably.
