1 week post the 12 month club. At least I've got confirmation that the grant has been extended to 18 months and it's likely ill get my car before then

Yes, we're now over the 12 months, with pretty much no hope of ever actually getting the car. If our latest date is correct we will be waiting 19 months. But really, I've no hope of it ever being built.

No way are we cancelling for several reasons:

• we ordered this car because it was exactly the size and boot size that we need
  It is a hatchback so we can take our dog in it easily
  It has the spec we want
  We couldn't, and still can't, find another car that matches our requirements
  The other cars have now had price increases that mades them a much dearer alternative

Exactly the same as myself, the ID.3 was/is the perfect car for me and family members, I've been so close several times the past 6 weeks to ordering something else but they all fall short on meeting the criteria the ID.3 fills.

I had waited for 7 months before I got my ID3. Our order was placed in July 2021 and was told would be with us latest end of Sept that year. But it wasn’t put on production line until December. At first it was due to chips shortages, and then logistics issues. We finally received the car end of January.
I would say it’s worth the wait, so far

I'm really pleased that you think the car worth the wait. We really liked it when we test drove it. In fairness to our dealer, like you, we originally looked in July 2021 and he told us that VW were, at that time, saying a 4 month wait. He also told us that it didn't reflect their experience and it would be nearer December. From your experience he was correct. Which is why I thought he'd be pretty accurate with the estimated delivery. I don't blame ore dealer at all, the only company to blame are VW as they are supposed to build the cars.

I'm afraid I'm angry about the VW excuses. You see, there's plenty of parts for the more expensive cars and every time I go onto my phone/computer there are adverts for these cars. So, it's obviously a prioritisation of VW £££s in profits over delivering orders from 2021.

I guess we'll have to decide how long we should be willing to wait. We're currently looking at a 19 month wait. What happens if it slips again? What's an acceptable wait?

Tbh, I wouldn’t wait any longer than 12 months. It’s a lovely car, and love at first sight for us.
But looking at brighter side, you may get the newest software and features?

Haha so true. I am half expecting it to be 2 years before I get mine and if that's the case then I'm over half way there. (My lame attempt at positivity )

I have the fear that yes we may get a facelift model, but the Spec of the Max will be non existent on them and we will get what the equivalent " New " model will be and that will be their get out clause for the parts they are struggling with, which from process of elimination seems to be linked with Travel assist on the ID.3
