Significant HV battery drain whilst parked.
60% to 44% over 4 days now⌠wonât be back until Friday and I expect itâll be 30 something by then.
Not looking forward to dealing with VW recovery after an 18 hour flightâŚ
More seriously - is there a fuse to pull to disable the hv battery - so when I leave it at the dealer it wonât carry on dropping (until itâs zero etc..)?

Can't answer the question, but is it worth turning off all internet connectivity in the car, and disabling 'optimised battery usage' in the app, for a couple of days before dropping it at the dealer to see if that slows the drain a lot? Good luck!
ID.3 Family Pro Performance (Jan 22). Also an ID.4 Max. Ohme Home Pro charger.
I was wondering the same thing myself. There is one fuse in the fusebox which is specifically tagged for emergency crews to pull in order to disable the drive system. But my assumption is that the drainage we're seeing is following a different route, since our drainage does not (apparently) require the drive system HV relay to engage.
Car has just been towed back to the dealer (again).
Upon enquiry at the dealers - it seems that they didn't try and fix the HV battery drain and 12v error. They did the 'recalls' that had just come our for ID3's - checked the HV battery and performed a SW update (great!) which seems to have had the side effect of clearing all the fault codes. So they figured it was fixed (without investigating the initial problem). The guy actually looked embarrassed when he found out...
At last I have a Golf hire care this time instead of the Seat Arona last...

Sounds about right unfortunately, they seem to have gone from 18months ago not understanding what a software update was and telling you, they didn't exist to now signing off every reported issue as 'fixed in upcoming software update'.MotMot wrote: âMon May 15, 2023 11:50 am Car has just been towed back to the dealer (again).

Well theyâre working on it.. thanks to the 3.2 WeConnect I can see when theyâve got the doors and bonnet openâŚ
I await the âitâs going to need a new module with a 6 week waitâ callâŚ
Mk8 golf hire car is a distinct improvement from the Seat Arona.

An update (if anyone is following )
Car has been with the dealer for 9 days now - and theyâve changed the 12v battery and the issue is still there. Iâve had a less than clear message left that they are going to replace part of the wiring loom (!?!?!???) but of course thereâs a small wait for the parts etcâŚ
at least itâs being looked at.
At least the hire car is ok (mk8 golf). But buying this petrol stuff is expensive isnât it!!

Well I'm still here.
I don't know if mine is still draining (assume yes) because I've been using it here in Spain, so it never sits long enough for me to know. I'll be starting the drive back to Finland in a week, and still plan to talk to my dealer once I get there. Maybe if I'm lucky you'll have some answers!
Have you tried asking for a replacement ID.3? WhatCar I think used to help consumers with this sort of thingMotMot wrote: âWed May 24, 2023 12:01 pm An update (if anyone is following )

Well Iâve got the car back (good) and theyâve changed the 12v battery (that they should have in the first place) and the battery earth strap. I suspect if this was faulty the car wouldnât work at allâŚ
Weâve still no idea what caused the 12v battery to fail in the first place.. but I may as well drive it and see if the error comes back rather than it sit at the dealer etc..
Good to have it back though.

How has it been going since the last update? My own update is good: I made the long trip from Spain to Finland successfully, with no problems at all.
Still plan to book the car in to the local dealership to have them have a look at it, but that won't happen soon unless something pressing comes up, as I've got other needs for the car.

Itâs been fine since (nearly two weeks) - but Iâm still suspicious theyâve not fixed the underlying issue that caused the first 12v battery to overcharge/fail. Unless that battery was duff (I doubt that tbh). But in the meantime put 800 odd miles on and all good. Fingers crossed for yours.
I have a Sep 2021 60kw id3. The 12 v battery warning first started appearing about 3 weeks ago. I was away for 7 days last week with the id3 left sitting on the drive. Over that period the hv battery dropped from 80% to 41%. I suspect that this is being caused by the defective 12 v battery. The car is in fir its first service this week. I have informed the dealer of the problem. My concern is that if they only change the battery but donât fix the underlying cause Iâll be back in the same situation in a yearâs time with the car then out of warranty
Ps the 12 v battery was â upgradedâ about 12 months ago with the 2.3 software upgrade

Hi - the original post was mine - and since having my battery replaced and a âfaulty earth cable changedâ (I recon that was a - looks like weâd better do something type reason) itâs been faultless since returned.
I now occasionally look at the 12v battery health readout you can get via OBD11 and it fluctuates between 80-89%.
Hopefully itâs all fine now⌠Iâd insist that they check the battery.

Obd is a data reader. Plug in a Bluetooth dongle under the steering wheel abs you can find all sorts of info about the car via an app on your phone. Dongles are ÂŁ20-30 on Amazon - apps are often free.
You can also clear warning lights / fault codes on other cars - which has made me quite popular with some family members..
