3.5 software, then 4.0 apparently later this year ('23)

Looks like the new models are getting v3.5 software, which puts more of the control buttons onto the touch surface.
Also reading that 4.0 is planned for later this year. Very interested in knowing if there's anything exciting in the major version jump. Any rumours?
Only thing I've read, is that feeding power back to the house/grid will possibly be more of a thing.
Btw - the new version WeConnect ID app, calls out support for features in 3.5 in its splash screen.

Lots of rumours on Facebook about people getting upgraded to 3.2. Think we should wait for official comms before getting excited!
4.0 was on the ID.7 at the recent launch and has quite a few new features. See YouTube videos. However the ID.7 has quite different hardware so unclear whether that software version could ever be backfitted to ID.3 etc.
I'm just hoping we'll get what's on 3.2 plus a battery preconditioning function (which is in 4.0) on our ID3s before January 2025 when our warranty runs out

VW have seemingly updated the info on their website about the software 3 upgrade ahead of any actual announce. See the FAQs. If you are on 2.4, it will be done at the dealer and you'll be put straight to 3.2. Not sure where that leaves people who have 3.0 or 3.1 on terms of future upgrades yet.

According to posts in the FB group, the 3.2 upgrade isn’t happening until after the 5th of May. My dealers first slot was the 15th, so this tallies up. Be interesting to se your experience.
After reading this I followed the link and booked my car in for next Wednesday 3 May. I’m already on 3.0 but I thought I would see what happened.
Within about 30 minutes (7:30 this morning) I had an email from Lookers central customer services saying “ Good morning I have received your online booking for the software update, but there is currently no software update outstanding on this vehicle, I have cancelled the appointment which you have booked. Any questions let me know.”
From this I deduce that (a) there is indeed a software update dealer program in progress (2.4 to 3.0 anyway), and (b) Lookers are on the ball.
I did reply that I had thought there might be a 3.0 to 3.2 update available, and again had a very prompt response of “ Hi there is currently nothing showing on the system, Volkswagen will get it touch when this comes available. Thank you”
I will await further news (on here, not from VW!).

Last night swiftly booked my car in via the VW website for v3.0.
This morning the dealer calls to cancel it as they know nothing about it. Face palm.
They asked, “don’t contact us, we’ll contact you”

So does this mean WV have pulled the plug on OTA updates? Dealers are going to be busy if it now falls to them. And it’s going to cost them precious technician time.
ID.3 1st Edition, Manganese Grey Metallic. 2.1 Software update 7 April 2021. 2.3 OTA Software update 2 August 2021. Dealer installed 2.4 update & battery 29 July 2022. 3.0 OTA update 21 December 2022. 3.2 Dealer installed October 2023.
I doubt it’s the end of OTA for the current ID models. They will just be buying time to find a solution to the unreliability of updates. They’ll need to find a one or risk a backlash from other VW drivers who can’t book something as simple as service.

I’ve had the call. Thought it was for 2.4 update! Not taking bookings for 3.2 - wanted to know where I’d heard! But I have got the 3.0 (or 3.2 whatever it is then) added to the schedule of work when they eventually look at my dead id3 that’s on the dealers forecourt!

Dealer has asked where the link to the dealer 3.0 update is. Just had another look at the VW website and the link to that has gone and it's back to showing ota update only!
