Hi All. The below was posted by VW on the ID users Facebook page. I know no more than that given below…

📢 Rollout of the ID. software 3.7 OTA update

Dear community,

It’s time: the OTA update to ID. software 3.7 is in the starting blocks.

How will we proceed?
As usual, we are rolling out the update in waves ("canary release"). The first wave contains 1,000 vehicles, subsequent waves then grow exponentially in the number of vehicles.

The primary users of the vehicles included in the first wave are expected to be notified by email this week.

Which vehicles will receive the update?
In principle, the ID. software 3.7 will be available for all vehicles that have a software version 3.x or prior.

• Most vehicles with ID. software 3.2 (workshop) or 3.5 (ex works) will receive the update directly via OTA.

• Vehicles with ID. software 3.1 (ex works or OTA), 3.2 (OTA) or 3.4 (ex works) may receive one or more interim updates and then ID. software 3.7 (OTA).
The same applies to GTX models with ID. software 3.5 (ex works) or those that were among the very first to receive 3.2 in the workshop.

• Vehicles with an ID. software version older than 3.1 are still asked to have the update carried out in the workshop, where they will also receive the update to ID. software 3.7.

What does the update include?
The following is a selection of the improvements that are included in ID. software 3.7.

The actual scope of the changes depends on the equipment and the current software version, which is the jumping point.

• Bidirectional charging (V2H) for 77 kWh batteries

• Minimizing noise during charging caused by interference from some mains connections

• Increased robustness of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection

• Fixed a bug that could cause a flickering or black rear camera image in rare cases

• Improvement of the notification concept in case of loss of mobile connection in areas with low network coverage (notification now disappears automatically after the connection is restored)

• Further performance and stability improvements

How can I perform the update?

Please make sure that you have given your consent to receive updates in myVolkswagen or in the Volkswagen App.

Wave planning takes place automatically based on a variety of factors. Therefore, we cannot give you any information about when exactly your vehicle will receive the update.

As soon as your vehicle is scheduled in an update wave, you will receive an email notification. The vehicle will then communicate with the update server at regular intervals and download the installation package independently in the background. As soon as the download is complete, a notice will appear in the infotainment system. From now on, the update can be installed after parking the vehicle (drive mode selector in P) via the button in the goodbye screen. The installation can only be started if the prerequisites are met:

• The battery SoC is at least 20%.

• The headlights are off (not on automatic).

• All windows and doors are fully closed.

• There is a stable internet connection.

The expected installation time is approx. 5h 30m. During installation, the vehicle is not usable and cannot be charged.

Best regards,

Your Volkswagen ID. Team

Thanks Motmot! Small changes, but I have had the flickering rear camera a couple of times in our ID4 (not the ID3) so that bit is good to see.

Went through the 2.4 to 3.7 tunnel recently, as per sidehaas the occasional flickering rear camera is now sorted as are a few other minor glitches, kinda hoping that's the end of the (major) updates at this stage.

Yes - personally I just hope it works well for everyone - which might help in any future OTA campaigns!

My id.3 announced the OTA update yesterday. I let it run and.... after a couple of hours it's finished

But my ID Software version is still showing 3.2

At this stage I have resigned to the fact that my car will always be stuck on 3.2 🤣

So what did it actually update?

Did your car arrive with 3.2 when new? I know there have been some updates going on to bring everyone up to the same point before the bigger update and most likely that'll be cars with 3.2 ex works having minor adjustments to match the later 3.2 versions installed at the dealer. 3.7 is supposed to be a 5 hour update so it's not that. VW have said we should get an email when our car is allocated to a wave so it could be months yet.

That looks like the update that changes how the motor phases (I think). Gives slightly better efficiency. Not 3.7…

Yes I it has always been on 3.2, and I got it brand new.

At one point I was invited by my local VW dealership to have a workshop upgrade then I had to call to cancel the appointment saying that had been a mistake and that there are no updates available. That was about six months ago.

I have an VOLKSWAGEN Id3 150kW Max Pro Perform 58kWh. 73 plate but I believe it was one of the last of the "old model" - it has a black bar / strip between the bonnet and the windscreen.

Thanks. It's a bit confusing that various sub-versions and updates are not visible to the owner because it makes it look like the update failed or literally nothing happened.

I have had two OTA updates, and it just says 3.2. It would be useful (to me at least) to show something like "3.2.1" or "3.2 (release code)"

If it fails it'll tell you. Some smaller updates don't make any change to the underlying software at all, they are just updating some specific apps etc. If you get one that it is a major update, it'll tell you clearly that it's an update to 3.7 etc before you start it. Ignore numbers given by recall codes which don't always correlate.

Hello, We just bought an ID.3 Pure with 170hp, 52Kw, do you know if these new models come with 3.7? Or do you know if they will come with a higher one, 4, 5?
Thank you so much

When did you order it and is it used, pre reg, brand new? (I didn't think you could order a Pure any more).

Hello, Thank you for the prompt response, it was ordered from the factory on September 2, New to the Factory, at the same time here in Spain it is possible but instead of 45Kw, as it was before, it is now 52Kw and 170hp

Ah right, well, I think you will probably be lucky and get software 5.0 along with the new infotainment screen. I think that's what any new factory order from the UK is, and I've seen someone on facebook who has one in Germany. Obviously don't know sure sure in Spain but would guess they've just switched the whole factory to the new system.

Oh, that would be great, I had heard something, but I wasn't clear about it, the sales representatives don't have much idea about the ID.3, I will insist that they ask the factory, thank you very much.
Any link for more information?, If it´s possible not Facebook.
Best Regards

Thanks for the info. Shame V2H won't be available for the 58kWh battery.

VW's rolling out the ID. software 3.7 update in waves, starting with just 1,000 cars. If you're in the first batch, you should get an email soon. The update includes bidirectional charging, better Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and fixes for some bugs. Make sure you’ve agreed to updates in the VW app. The whole install takes about 5.5 hours, so you'll need to plan for some downtime.

I've just had a mini update with no information just to state it would apply next time car was switched off, I'm wondering if this is a pre req for another update?
