After install there is a further small data package to download whilst car is online.
The car now shows Software 3.7 as opposed to 3.2 previously. It will be interesting to see if there is any noticeable difference when I come to drive the car.
It certainly seems that VW have finally made good on the promise of OTA updates, four years after the purchase of my ID3 1st Edition.
I'll be interested to hear if you notice any differences...

My update notification popped up this morning. I can only assume it’s for the 3.7 update. Set it off about 16:45 and it told me it needs 2.5 hours to complete. We were already on V3.5.

On 17/10/24, I got the email telling me I was going to get 3.7 OTA. I've driven about 60 miles a day since then. I thought that would have been enough time to download the update but there's still no in-car notification of it being available.

Seems to have worked for me. 2.5 hours for 3.5 to 3.7 update. After main update had two further ones; a digital manual update and another re version display and some shop related stuff.

Mine was the same. But I needed to drive the car for a bit before the shop function would work. It kept saying the software wasn’t up to date, even though the car was reporting 3.7.

Just a little question to owners of the id.3 updated to 3.7: With this phantasmagoric OTA, does the car remember our last choice of whether to charge immediately until... or whether to charge at the set times?

Tks

My car (factory 3.2 with OTA inverter update) upgraded to 3.7 last night. It said it would take 210 minutes.

The car was fine this morning other than the time showing as 20:07 rather than 10:07 until I drove off. I got a whole series of notifications about app updates and then the screen to install the update for the version numbering.

One thing is though that the app showed the door open and the car unlocked overnight. Presumably the door/lock state message doesn't go out when the update installation begins. After the test drive and the other updates the car also thought it was unlocked but I confirmed it was physically locked.

Got the "update available " yesterday pm as I got home and so lights to off etc, and lock motor. Noticed that the VW app on my phone showed a greyed out box where the % and miles should have been. Looked again at app 4 hrs later and to my surprised the same box have values in it but the car icon was showing as unlocked and passengers door wide open, but checked and car was fine. This morning all up to date and will dodge off out later for a drive and see if any difference from 3.2 that was on.

Anyone know what it said on the “more information“ screen? I forgot to open it before updating!

It existed since 3.0 as a thing, but I think the option in the app is more recent - not sure when it appeared or if it's new now.

Does the battery heating notification apply to all ID3s? I thought it was only the latest facelifted facelift that had that? Can't remember seeing it on our 2023 built car.

I had it come up once on my MY22 car built with 2.3, after the 3.0 update. It was a rare occasion when I arrived home on very low SoC on a cold day and didn't go to plug it in straight away. I went back several hours later and when I got in I had a warning to say the battery temperature was low and I should plug in to charge before doing anything else (which fortunately I was planning on doing anyway). I remember it explained that if I didn't then performance might be reduced on next start up. Basically it was saying charge me up or you might find yourself in turtle mode at this temperature.
I've never seen it again. I can't remember whether something also appeared in the app.

If you are sat in the house how do you known when the update is complete ?

After 3 or 4 hours is it safe to go open the doors to check ?

I would give it 4-5. Estimate on the dash is 3.5 hrs - best to leave some margin I think.
