It's time to change my tyres assuming they're the originals (manufacturing date suggests so), the Goodyear Efficient Grips have done well to last nearly 30,000 miles. These are the 215/55 18 95T version.
I'm keen to have the same tyres as they last well, are quiet and efficient, but the cheapest I can find is Ā£500 fitted, and that's with 15% discount.
I'd like to know if there are more cost effective tyres that compete well to the Goodyear's regarding longevity, efficiency and quietness. Any recommendations?
Cost conscious tyres... Suggestions?
Hi,
I suggest checking out this interesting website/video:
https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/202 ... e-Test.htm
I've driven the first 40,000 km on my ID.3 with the original Bridgestone Turanza tires, then switched to Hankook Ventus Prime 4 for the next 60,000 km. Now, based on tire tests and great reviews on tirereviews.com (plus a good price), Iām using the Continental Premium Contact 7.
Remember, safety is essential. Itās worth investing a bit more for high-quality tires that might stop your car a meter before the one in front of you, rather than spending thousands because you braked a meter too late.
Cheers!

Here 2 pictures of Bridgestone after 40.000 km (still about 1.5mm before the TWI limit):
and a picture of pads:
Front and rear tyres appear worn evenly.
Unfortunately, I donāt have any pictures of the Hankook tires after 60,000 km, but they also appeared to wear evenly, though they were very close to the TWI (Tread Wear Indicator).
Regarding my usage of the ID.3: about 30% is in urban areas, 56% in rural areas, and 14% on motorways. (I have this data thanks to the satellite tracker installed by my insurance company.)
Oh, and I almost forgot: Iāve never rotated the front and rear tires with any of the sets Iāve had installed.
To answer your last question, my battery status was goodāin July, the maximum capacity was at 96.1%.
At the end of July, I received a warning about an electrical issue (the car still works fineāIāve driven about 5,000 km without any problems). Finally, 10 days ago, my dealer replaced two battery modules free of charge (covered under warranty up to 160,000 km).
Now, Iām going to keep the battery "under observation," and hopefully, my car will be better than ever!
Cheers!

Thanks for your reply.
Very reassuring actually, esp your battery health after 100k mileage.
I'm on Bridgstone Euranzas at 25,000 km and all are 3.7 to 4.2mm so no issues.

Posting some more realistic figures to balance things out;)
I barely got 20k km from my Turanzas (rotated at 10k as rears more worn).
The photos above showing 3mm thread was what mine looked like when I rotated them.
Driving like a saint, mostly motorway miles at speed limit.
Replaced with Goodyears now at 10k km, these look like they will last much longer. These were 8mm new compared to the Turanzas which were 5mm.
Goodyears cost me 700 euro 18ā
Degradation at 30k km is 86% always AC slow charged to 80% no DC charging. Never gone below 20%.
No faults or issues with the car, currently on 3.2.
